Meetings and Business Travel Glenn Duncan attended, for the first time in November, the 48th ICCA (International Congress & Convention Association) Congress and Exhibition. This event brings DMO’s, convention facilities and other industry colleagues together for a one of a kind learning experience and business lead exchange targeted at international convention business. Glenn Duncan also attended, for the first time in December, the EIBTM Global Meetings and Incentives Exhibition. Led by the CTC and their Canada pavilion this show is one of the largest of its kind if not the largest that brings buyers and suppliers together from around the globe to discuss meetings and incentive business. Brent Beatty along with Mike Miller hosted the annual MOTTO client events in Ottawa, Toronto & Montreal November 2 – 6, 2009. This annual initiative reaches out to key planners and executives in the Corporate, Association and Government markets. 2009 was a departure from our past success with a culinary based series of events. Client feedback was extremely positive with a total of 125 clients joining 20 Edmonton partners. Brent Beatty along with Christina Fedorak of the Hilton Garden Inn West and Jan Tolle MacDonald of Travel Alberta International participated in a series of events in Chicago and Minneapolis December 13 – 17, 2009. In total over 600 clients were in attendance for both cities with key events being our first ever Hyland lunch in Chicago, DMAI Holiday Showcase in Chicago, MPI Chicago Area Chapter Holiday Masterpiece, and MPI Minnesota Chapter Holiday Party & Sales calls in Minneapolis. Brent Beatty also attended the Canadian Society of Association Executive (CSAE) Annual Conference & Showcase from November 24 – 27, 2009. This annual meeting and tradeshow is “the” key meeting point for Association Executives ever year and 2009 attracted over 500 attendees. 22 partners representing Travel Alberta, Edmonton, Calgary and the Banff community were in attendance.
