Edmontonstories.ca provides personal views on
what makes Edmonton great

In partnership with the City of Edmonton, we have developed a new awareness campaign aptly named Edmonton Stories. To build awareness of our region, Edmonton Stories will reveal the essence of the community directly through people’s experiences.

Edmontonians and visitors alike are being asked to share their written, audio or video stories at www.edmontonstories.ca, so that those stories can then be shared with the world.

Research conducted in July of 2008 found that Edmonton ranks high in what people look for and value in a place to live or visit, but awareness of our city’s great attributes are low in national markets.

This campaign will increase awareness of Edmonton, while also showcasing the community’s spirit and potential. In many ways, Edmonton Stories is an innovative concept. It is quite different from traditional advertising or public relations efforts, in that it embraces social media and encourages, even depends on public participation. The approach is personal and authentic – much like Edmonton.

I’d like to encourage you to visit www.edmontonstories.ca and explore the stories about working, living and visiting our great city. While you’re there, you might want to consider sharing your own unique story or encourage someone you know to share theirs. When it’s published, be sure to share the website link with family, friends, and coworkers through whatever means you prefer, email, Facebook, Twitter, or in an old fashioned face-to-face conversation. Consider how your story might promote your business, as well as your employee attraction and retention efforts. Encourage any visitors impressed by our beautiful city to share their own “visiting” story.

Edmonton’s future achievements can be greatly amplified by the success of this campaign. So go on, share your story!

MEETINGSEASY COMES TO EDMONTON!

Edmonton is the 5th Canadian city to role out the award winning e-RFP web based meeting and convention planning software MeetingsEasy. Edmonton joins Ottawa, Moncton, Richmond, and Kelowna in using this groundbreaking technology.

MeetingsEasy automatically allows meeting planners to research, request and receive proposals, plan save and update meeting details instantly. MeetingsEasy then takes this information and automatically distributes it to the industry partners. The industry partners respond individually, and the program collects the responses for the planner to view online. Edmonton Tourism has a 360 degree view of the entire process which allows them to work with both the meeting planners and the industry partners to ensure that the transfer of information is efficient, effective and easy for everyone involved. MeetingsEasy is the first software to bring the entire meeting planning process to the web.

Glenn Duncan, Managing Director, Tourism Development, states that “MeetingsEasy is another way to reach planners, and is an enhancement to generate more leads.” Glenn is looking forward to getting the partners heavily involved in this exciting new project!

For more information on MeetingsEasy, please contact Glenn Duncan at gduncan@edmonton.com or (780) 917-7622.
