Showcase Canada 2010 – China April 14-17, 2010 Edmonton Tourism participated in CTC China Showcase in Yangtze, China lead by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC). This showcase was attended by over 50 Canadian partners, including Alberta partners: Travel Alberta, Edmonton Tourism, Tourism Calgary, Jasper Tourism and Banff/Lake Louise Tourism. Edmonton Tourism had over 61 pre-scheduled appointments with key tour operators who are looking to promote Canada in the China market.
Rendez-Vous Canada CTC Showcase – Winnipeg May 8-12, 2010 Edmonton Tourism participated in CTC Rendez Vous Canada Showcase in Winnipeg lead by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC). Rendezvous Canada is Canada’s premier annual international tourism industry marketplace. The key to the success of Rendezvous Canada is a the program of pre-scheduled, 12 minute appointments, which brings together Buyers, Seller, and DMO’s over a four day period. Leisure, International secured over 60 appointments, with a variety of buyers to help promote and publish Edmonton into their itineraries. China –Alberta Mission – China May 15-22, 2010 Edmonton Tourism led a China Mission with Alberta partners. Partners included Edmonton Destination Marketing Fund Co-Chairs from each cluster, City of Edmonton Mayor’s Office, Travel Alberta & Tourism Jasper. This tourism mission included B2B and Agent Training at Canadian selling Tour Operators in Beijing, Shanghai & Guangzhou. The mission also included hosted reception in Beijing and a hosted dinner function in both Shanghai and Guangzhou. The mission was an overall success with key learning opportunities from both sides in order to best prepare ourselves for Approved Destination Status (ADS) coming to fruition in the coming months.
