Edmonton Festival City
The Edmonton Festival City in a Box program has been busy with events promoting Edmonton spread around North America. On April 13, the Dino Dominelli jazz trio entertained 300 members of the American media at Canada Media Marketplace in San Francisco. Renowned cellist Josephine van Lier performed at a Bio International reception in Chicago and Juno-nominated reggae band Souljah Fyah put on a high-energy show at Rendez-Vous Canada in Winnipeg. Another major highlight was Edmonton’s own songstress Ann Vriend bringing down the house at the Meeting Planners International Prix Prestige Gala in Ottawa, on May 6th in front of an audience of over 500. Upcoming highlights include performances at the 10th Annual You’re Welcome Edmonton Awards at The Winspear Centre and themed performances throughout the national Canadian Library Association conference here in Edmonton.
Edmonton Festival City Media Relations Program This program continues with a monthly e-newsletter distribution to out-of-market media in national and international markets showcasing the festivals and other related product, providing story ideas, and raising destination awareness. Open rates have continued at over 20 per cent with content postings on select websites, including increased ‘Edmonton’ search rankings on Google and Yahoo as well as media inquiries. Additional pick up has included – newsburea.ca, Hsyndicate.org, Canadian Tourism Commission, Streetinsider.com, Reuters.com, Hospitalitynet.org, Babbledog.com and newsbureau.ca. Live All Year at Edmonton International Airport The Live All Year schedule of performances have started with a strong opening to 2010. Roving performers and musicians entertained hundreds during dates in March and April. This program continues to build momentum, designed to transform the normal airport experience into a fun, vibrant experience by bringing live performances, interactive activities, and artistic displays to the terminal to promote Edmonton’s many festivals and special events.
