Meetings and Business Travel

Brent Beatty along with seven Edmonton partners attended Travel Alberta’s (TA) Brand New Faces Brand New Faces Road Show in our three key eastern markets (Montreal, Toronto & Ottawa). Theresa Kloster also joined in for the Toronto event. TA secured a key note entertainer named Michael Bernard Fitzgerald. In each city Michael did three sets of music which allowed all partners ample time to network with clients and yet showcase some great new Alberta Talent. Over 153 Corporate, association and Government clients came out and their feedback was exceptional. They really enjoyed our entertainment and enjoyed the fact that there was not only a fun night of dancing but great quality time with out partners. We were disappointed in Montreal and Ottawa event attendance as they were hindered by NHL playoff games going on.

Glen Duncan attended the Meeting Professional Int’l Ottawa Chapter Prix Prestige Awards Gala in Ottawa with over 350 association and government planners. Edmonton was a key sponsor again this year. As a key sponsor we were able to have podium time to speak about our destinations for meetings and conference. It was also an opportunity for Glenn to high light The Edmonton Festival City in a Box program presented by TransAlta. Via this program we showcased local artist Anne Vriend who wow’d the audience with her piano styling’s and everyone is going to be provided a CD of her music as keep sake of their experience

Later in May we have two exciting events on our calendar. From May 25 – 27 Glenn Duncan will be off to Frankfurt, Germany for the annual IMEX worldwide exhibition for meetings, events and incentive travel. In 2009 over 3,500 exhibitors from more than 150 countries attended this international event. Brent Beatty will be in Washington, DC for May 25 – 28 for the annual ASAE Springtime in the Park Tradeshow and ancillary events. Springtime is the largest one-day show in the meetings industry with over 1800 delegates in the world’s largest association and government market. Look for news on how these events went next month and for now….

Don’t forget that next month, June 21 – 24. We are holding our annual Super Summer Solstice Site Visit (SSSV). This year we have 16 key planners from US & Canada set to experience our city from We look forward to seeing you at the partner event and sharing your love of the city with this potential clients

If you would like more information on any of these initiatives, please contact Glenn Duncan at gduncan@edmonton.com or (780) 917-7622.
