National Meeting Industry Day: Instead of holding our regular monthly Mixer, in April we are encouraging you to support the National Meeting Industry Day (NMID) on April 15th at 7:30 AM.
NMID has been celebrated across Canada for 14 years in eight major cities. In Edmonton they will be hosting a breakfast celebration and will be a time to connect with other professionals, to draw attention to the value of our local industry and to learn about social media from one of Canada's foremost experts. Social media expert Amber MacArthur will be delivering a keynote presentation that discusses social media trends.

Message from the Vice-President of Economic & Tourism Development
Building on the pride from the Vancouver Winter Olympics, we're now looking ahead at Edmonton's EXPO 2017 bid. Just as the Olympics inspire athletic achievement and performance, EXPOs bring together the world’s greatest minds to generate ideas and spark creative excellence - they offer a global stage to showcase innovation. EXPO 2017 would provide Edmonton, Alberta and Canada an unprecedented opportunity to demonstrate our advanced leadership in energy and the environment.
Hosting EXPO 2017 will serve as a transformational point in Alberta’s history, providing us a platform to increase international recognition, galvanize the community and provide tangible benefits and legacies for our region, province and country. The current plans for EXPO include an expansion of the University of Alberta south campus, meaning the EXPO’s legacy would be a gift for generations of Edmontonians to come.
The tourism benefits of EXPO would be like nothing we’ve experienced before. Millions of people from around the world would come and explore not only Greater Edmonton, but Alberta and Canada. EXPO 2017 would also augment Canada's 150th anniversary celebrations.
The success of our bid is dependent on a community-driven effort. There are many ways to get involved. Invite an EXPO speaker to talk about the benefits to your next event. Vocalize your support. Add an EXPO tag line on your email signature or include a link on your website. Take pride in supporting the bid, and let’s welcome the world to Edmonton in 2017.
