Edmonton Events International

Every four years, Canada’s curling elite are challenged to be the best they can be – to compete for the right to represent their country in the Winter Games, the pinnacle of all international sporting competitions. To get there, Canada’s best men’s and women’s teams compete head-to-head in a qualifying championship called - the Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings – the Canadian Men’s & Women’s Curling Trials. Curling fans can look forward to the 2009 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings in Edmonton, Alberta from December 6-13, 2009 at Rexall Place.

The field will be comprised of eight of the top men’s teams in the country and eight of the top women’s teams. Four teams of each gender will qualify directly into the Trials, based on overall performance (Canadian Team Ranking System) and specific event wins. The other four men’s and four women’s teams will be determined in a Pre-Trials qualifier which will be hosted in Prince George, BC November 10 – 15, 2009.

For Eight days, the 2009 Tim Hortons Roar of the Rings will be played before capacity crowds, with total attendance projected to reach more than 200,000. Before and after games, fans will gather in the Patch to enjoy a festive atmosphere of fun, food and entertainment. More than 3,000 visitors - with curling and holiday shopping on their minds – are anticipated, creating an economic impact in the range of $30 million.
