Corroboree 2009 Australia February 4-11, 2009 Edmonton Tourism participated in Corroboree 2009 in Australia lead by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC). Canada Corroboree is a national Australian industry road-show held to illustrate the amazing experiences travellers can have right across Canada. It is also an opportunity for Australian retail agents, wholesalers/tour operators and media to meet with 19 Canadian Destination and Supplier representatives. This road show takes place in 5 different cities throughout Australia; Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra and Sydney. There were 17 Canadian partners; Banff Lake Louise, Brewster Inc., Calgary Stampede, Cruise North Expeditions, Edmonton Tourism, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Frontiers North Adventures, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Rocky Mountain Vacations, Tourism British Columbia, Tourism Montreal, Tourisme Quebec, Tourism Sun Peaks, Tourism Whistler, Travel Alberta, VIA Rail Canada and Yukon Tourism. Aside from the formal itinerary of Corroboree, there was an opportunity to conduct some business with tour operators and host training sessions for reservation agents. VIA Rail, Fairmont Hotels, Brewster Inc. and Edmonton Tourism were part of a 2 hour in-house training for Talpacific on Monday, February 9, 2009. There were about 40 agents in attendance. Edmonton Tourism conducted reservation agent training on Wednesday, February 10 at Creative Holidays. There were 10, ten minute sessions with 6 agents in each class. Spotlight Canada London, UK - March 16-19, 2009  Edmonton Tourism participated in Spotlight Canada 2009, in London, UK lead by the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC). This showcase was attended by 5 Edmonton partners and over 70 Canadian partners, including Travel Alberta, Edmonton Tourism, Tourism Calgary, Northlands, West Edmonton Mall, Fantasyland Hotel, Jasper Tourism and Banff/Lake Louise Tourism. Edmonton Tourism had over 21 pre-scheduled appointments with key tour operators who promote Canada in the UK and some other countries in Europe. Edmonton Airports has been operating direct flights with Air Canada into London Heathrow Airport and Edmonton Tourism and partners continues to support those initiatives to help increase more flights into Edmonton. There was also a dinner reception organized by Travel Alberta for key UK media journalists and was attended by supporting Alberta partners. Ireland Sales Calls Dublin, Ireland - March 19-20, 2009 Following Spotlight Canada in London, UK, Alberta partners including Edmonton Tourism, VIA Rail & Jasper Tourism scheduled sales calls with various Tour Operators that book Canada and a media luncheon that was attended by media journalists and travel trade.
