Edmonton Festival City

Festival City integration has recently been featured at consumer shows in Saskatoon, Prince George and Yellowknife with an estimated audience of 60,000. On April 22, Edmonton Festival City followed up on last year’s hugely successful You’re Welcome Edmonton gala celebration with performances by The Be Arthurs, Firefly Theatre, Dance Alberta and the Edmonton Stiltwalkers Society.
A highlight has been an Edmonton Festival City Road Show as part of Edmonton’s Universiade 2015 bid. Edmonton’s own Kita No Taiko, Asani and the Dino Dominelli Jazz Trio were among the performers who helped showcase Edmonton’s impressive performing arts community and celebrate its multicultural heritage.
Upcoming events with Festival City in May include the Meeting Planners International 2009 Gala in Ottawa, and Canada's premier annual international tourism industry marketplace – Rendez-Vous Canada in Calgary.
Festival City Media Relations Program
This program continues with a monthly e-newsletter distribution to out-of-market media in national and international markets showcasing the festivals and other related product, providing story ideas, and raising destination awareness. Open rates have continued at 25 to 30 per cent. Results to-date have included content postings on select websites, increased ‘Edmonton’ search rankings on Google and Yahoo as well as media inquiries.
Live All Year at Edmonton International Airport
This program continues to build momentum, designed to transform the normal airport experience into a fun, vibrant experience by bringing live performances, interactive activities, and artistic displays to the terminal to promote Edmonton’s many festivals and special events.
