Edmonton Events International
 Bids were submitted last month for two major national events– the 2012 Special Olympics National Winter Games and the 2012 Canadian Gymnastics Championships. The 2012 Special Olympics National Winter Games has been awarded to Alberta and 5 communities in our Province, including Edmonton, are competing for the honors to host this important event. A host city for both events should be awarded by the end of this year. We will be hosting national and/or provincial sport clients in Edmonton during the 2009 Roar of the Rings Olympic Curling Trials at Rexall Place. We will showcase to these clients all that Edmonton has to offer when hosting sporting events. Hockey Canada and AthletesCAN will be conducting site visits in Edmonton in November. Hockey Canada will be determining their hotel selections for the 2012 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships, and AthletesCAN will be determining what host city will be awarded the 2011 AthletesCAN Forum. We have secured the Senior National Taekwondo Championships and the Alberta Gujarati Association’s Western Canadian Raas Garba Dance Competition in 2010.
