WE'VE MADE IT EASY!

Gardening has never been easier!  We've re-designed our retail benches with you in mind.  Now each bench is marked by a type of plant that is essential in container gardening.  All you need to do is choose plants from each of the 3 Essential Elements (which are on 6 themed benches)

To use the recipes, see below.  You can find a hard copy of the recipes at Salisbury.

RECOMMENDED RECIPES

Here are some recipes that we recommend for your yard this spring and summer.  Of course, all these plants can be found at Salisbury Greenhouse (780-467-5743), although due to limited quantities some types may sell quickly.

We have free hard-copies of these recipes in our free 20-page flyer available at Salisbury.
SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND!

CABARET SUN
(all day sun)

Big colour for a sunny spot, 'Cabaret Sun' is for people who like bold, primary colour and lots of it!  Feel free to substitute, here, as long as it's colourful!

WILD WALTZ
(all day sun to only afternoon sun)
A whimsical combo for anyone who loves blues and purples in the yard.  In spring evenings the Nemesia smells fragrant and beautiful (especially the white).  You'll find that when the summer gets hot the Nemesia will tire out and the Supertunia will thrive.  Feel free to substitue within the same colour scheme.

CAMELOT
(all day sun to only afternoon sun)
This is a more delicate, cottage look, where some of the emphasis on big colour has been replaced with the texture of grass.  A beautiful look for a yard with soft colour and/ or pastels.

ROMANCE    (all day sun to only afternoon sun)
The graceful, upward arcs of the Gaura soften the massive colur of the Supertunias, here.  'Romance' combines both colour and form for a stunning container.  One of my favorites!  You can substitute different colour combinations of the Gaura, the Supertunias, and different vines.

CHERRY LACE    (full sun to only morning sun)
Containers don't have to be just annuals.  Why not put a shrub in your container, especially one with stunning dark foliage.  You can substitute any shrub here, but I recommend one with dark leaves to contrast with the Million Bells.

BLUES QUARTET    (all day sun to only morning sun)
This 26" container can also be a small container (around 10-14"), just use fewer plants.  A beautiful combination of blues.

DIAMONDS    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
This is a fabulous window-box combination that can be used for any size, from a small apartment window box to the picture below.  If you're using a smaller box, consider Million Bells instead of a Supertunia and a Carex instead of a Fountain Grass.  It can take the strong heat of a south facing window.

FUZZY PEACH    (full sun to only morning sun)
This is a unique, whimsical look that combines the texture of grass, the tasty colour of Million Bells, and the rich foliage of Heuchera.  You can also use this combination in a smaller container.

GOTHICA   (full sun to only afternoon sun)
Many gardeners are increasingly using the striking, modern colours of black and white in their yards.  Black adds a bold contemporary look while white and silver flowers reflect moonlight and seems to extend the day into the night on the patio!

HAPPINESS    (full sun)
A great container for a small patio or a sitting area.  Cute yet vigorous, it boasts wonderful colour contrast and a variety of styles all in one.
Feel free to substitute Osteospermum peach, as well.

HEAT WAVE    (full sun)
Canna Lilies are very hot this year!  They are sun lovers that thrive in hot summers.  Along with Bracteantha and Superbells, 'Heat Wave' is a knockout in the summer sun.

LAZY AFTERNOON    (full sun)
Reminiscient of sleepy summer days spend in the hammock or at the cottage, 'Lazy Afternoon' uses subtle colours and bold architecture to create a stunning piece.  Try substituting with more bold coloured Supertunias if you want more colour.

OH CANADA    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
Red and white are excellent colours to garden with, some people even plants their whole yards in red and white!  This one would be perfect for Canada Day.  If you love these colours and/or want to show how much you love Canada, you can use these or substitute from a wide array of other red and white container stuffers.

SAFARI    (afternoon sun to morning sun)
Foliage-only containers are becoming very popular.  'Safari' blends a striking combo or dark hues and contrasting textures.  You can substitute other Rex Begonias and choose from a variety at Salisbury.

WHITE SPLASH    (full sun to only morning sun)
Mono-coloured baskets are becoming very popular, especially ones like these which balance 1 colours with a display of contrasting textures.  Try this one or try a mono-coloured basket of your own.

WINE TASTING   (full sun to only afternoon sun)
Here is another container that uses a shrub to great appeal.  The vertical reach of the Weigela both blends and contrast with the more delicate arching Gaura, and the lightening of the colours as the eye moves down the container is a wonderful touch.

JUNGLE RIDGE    (morning sun to shade)
A real statement maker, 'Jungle Ridge' uses the tropical flair of a big Alocasia or Colocasia and combines it with other tropical colours, like New Guinea Impatiens and Rex Begonias.  It will light up any shady spot.

WOOD ELF
(full sun)
On a breezy summer day the swaying of Stipa grass in the wind is intoxicating!  Combine Stipa with other graceful textures and you have a container worthy of the Elvish woodland realms!

RECOMMENDED HANGING BASKETS

APRIL SHOWERS    (full sun to only morning sun)
Perfect for any yard with pastels, 'April Showers' puts on a big show!

BLUE DREAMS    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
If you have any blue themes in your yard, this isn't to be missed!

CELEBRATION    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
Just plain colourful, 'Celebration' is a joyous explosion of primary colours!

DUSK    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
A little more subdued than 'Celebration', 'Dusk' boasts richer, deeper colour tones.

FIESTA    (full sun)
With the citrus coloured Lantana, this is one the butterflies will love!  It will trive the hotter it can get.

GUACAMOLE    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
Foliage is as striking in hanging baskets as it is in upright containers, and Lime Ipomea is the perfect colours to contrast with the others.

PASTELS   (full sun to only afternoon sun)
Perfect for a quieter colour scheme that is still vigorous and impressive.

SUMMER SUN    (full sun to only afternoon sun)
The bright, childlike colours in 'Summer Sun' are reminiscient of a day at the Carnival!
