The 2009 Mac’s "Froster 50", the Premier race with the Biggest purse ($10,000.00) in Canada
is in the books for another year and what a race it was. #17 Mac's Convenience Stores sponsored car of Ira Laughy won the race for the third time in four years. But the biggest story of the race was #22 Rick Walls who ran the race of his life and won the Pro Division and was 2nd to Ira Laughy. #32 Adam Gilbert was 4th overall and won the Semi Pro Division in only his 2nd year of racing.

Another young racer who was making his Legends racing debut, 15 year old Dex Hucal another ex Kart racer from Edmonton, won the Young Lions Dash for Cash in his #81. He then went on to win the B-Main, and finished 12th overall in the A-Main on the lead lap. WOW !!!!!!

The Mac’s "Froster 50" race attracted 33 racers from Western Canada, and the A- Main featureD the top 28 legend racers.

#17 Ira Laughy was the low qualifier and lead for 82 of the 83 Laps, including the one that counted the most, the last Lap.

The start of the A-Main saw 33 Legend racers doing a 4 wide salute to the fans that drew a standing ovation from the approximately 2000 fans in attendance.

Another Young Kart Racer Makes Big Impression

The number of Legend racers that have come from Karting continues to grow and #81 Dex Hucal from Edmonton, Alberta Wow’ed all the racers at the
Mac’s Froster 50 in Saskatoon. Dexter finished 12th overall in his first race in a Legend racecar and was 4th best of all the racers in the Semi Pro division. He won the B-Main to earn his spot in the A-Main as well.

Dexter has had alot of success racing Karts includeing a trip t the World Karting Championships in 2008.

Give this kid some time to get used to a Legend racecar which is entirely different than a Kart and who knows how good he will be. Reminds us of another ex-Kart racer Randy Thompson and we all know how good Randy was.

Final Dirt Race of 2009

As we enter the last few races of 2009 Rick Blanchette
wants to remind all of the racers of the fourth and final Mike & Ikes Dirt Race of 2009 on September 26th at RMRP

As this is the last race before we put the racecar away for 2009, Rick and Legend Cars of Alberta invite all those who have not tried the Dirt to come on out and give it a whirl.

What a way to finish off the season if we could have 25 plus Legend racecars at the last Mike & Ikes Dirt race, Guaranteed to put a big smile on your face, and a bunch of dirt in your teeth!

Road Course Race

The first ever Road Course race at Stratotech Park in Fort Saskatchewan was a Huge Hit. 18 Legend racers had big smiles on their faces as the first of what we hope will be many more Road Course races for Legends came to an end. The #29 of Aaron Freind held off #17 Ira Laughy to claim the overall title and 1st place followed by Kyle Stevens in the #38 in third.

And in a terrific gesture by the racers $500.00 was given to James Van Domselaar who on the night before raised $12,000 for his families "Racing for the Cure" which was raising money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada in what has become an annual event since James's wife Tamera's battle with cancer a couple of years ago. It was great to see the racers donate to such a worthy cause and it was also great to have James racing with us again and pulling off an impressive 4th place overall in the process.

Also a Big Thank You needs to go out to Mark Stevens and Owen Gilbert as they were the two that made this race possible. Hopefully this race becomes part of the Chase for the Mac’s Cup in 2010.

New Racer - Jason Fischer

He may not be the fastest racer, he doesn’t have a big racing budget, but nobody's smile is bigger when he gets out of his Legend racecar than Jason's. Jason’s
effort’s paid off with his first win in the Legends Trophy Dash at EIR a couple of weeks ago.

Each race he gets faster and each race he becomes more competitive, it won’t be long before we see Jason running with the fast guys in the A-Main.

Racers like Jason are the backbone of the Legend racing series.

Thrills Miller Turns 60

While the guys were racing their Legend racecars at EIR, The guy they call "Thrills" was busy celebrating his 60th Birthday Party. And although he was having a good time he was also keeping track of the racing activities at EIR, thanks to Randi and her text messaging skills.

Hopefully Thrills Miller doesn't turn into Spills Miller now that he is 60.

Here are a couple of photos from the memorable event, including Wayne’s new race track walker and his birthday cake.

A great time was had by all and Wayne can hardly wait for his first pension cheque!

2009 Froster 50 - Logo and T-Shirts

For those of you that were at the 2009 Mac’s Froster 50 you probably received a couple of 2009 Mac’s Froster 50 T Shirts.

The person responsible for the 2009 Froster 50 Logo was our own Randi Willemsen who can be found in the #22 pit of Rick Walls. Randi was asked by Ron Thompson of Mac’s to come up with this years T-shirt and WOW is it nice.

Randi also designed the 2009 Mac’s Legend Series Logo, and is responsible for maintaining and updating the Legend Web Site, as well as it's design. Randi is a very talented designer and it shows in all of the work she does for Legends.

We wanted to put a shout out to Randi for everything she does and let her know how much we appreciate it, THANKS RANDI!
