It's that time of year again, we are getting geared up for the Biggest Race of the Year, The Firecracker 50. For those that have raced in it before you know how much fun and how hard the racing is at this event. For those who will be racing in the Firecracker for the first time, look forward to a great event. As a group we all need to get involved in promoting the biggest race on our schedule. Between Ron Thompson from Mac's and I we will do everything we can to support any and all initiatives we can to fill the stands on Sunday August 21st for the 6th Annual Mac's Firecracker 50, powered by FROSTER. We have looked at the schedule and would ask that all the local drivers come out for a show & shine/autograph session at Home Depot on Macleod Trail the weekend before. If you could please bring your car out on Saturday August 13th, and have them unloaded and ready to display from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. that would be great. Bring your Sharpie, as Mac's will be advertising the cars at this location for all to stop by to meet and greet you the drivers of this great series. We will cook a few hot dogs and provide some free Pepsi's to those attending and those curious about the cars. Click Here for Directions

Featured Racer - Ken Webster

This is Ken's 1st full year in Legends, Ken has put together a 5 car team with matching paint & graphics Ken drives 2 cars the #03 & 04. Which car he drives depends on which one is working the best that day. His son Jesse Webster will drive the # 01 at the Mac's Firecracker 50 and Royal Livingston (a close friend) will drive the #02. Ken has drag raced, and still owns a Top Alcohol Dragster, and also owns a Winged Spring Car that was formerly owner by Rob Reeves. Ken leads the Masters Division in the 2005 NAPA Auto Parts Legend Touring Sereis, as well as the 2005 NAPA Auto Parts Northern Series and is a close 2nd in the 2005 Mac's Legend Championship. If you have not had the pleasure of meeting Ken, make sure you take the time to introduce yourself, he is a great guy and a very good racer!

Gary Shillington
#33
Gary Shillington entered 2005 with high expectations for 2005, as he was looking forward to doing all the races in his #33 Legend racecar. Most people saw Gary and his Pretty #33 Legend racecar May 14th in Wetaskwin. But since then Gary has not being seen at the race track. We have learned that in June Gary was rushed to the Hospital where he had a major operation for stomach problems. Gary's recovery is slow, but Gary has High expectations and Hopes to race on May 21st at the Mac's Fire Cracker 50. even if only for a few laps. Gary hopes to be fully recovered by the time Legends roll into Grande Prairie on Sept 11th. Legend Cars of Alberta and all the racers wish Gary a Speedy recovery!

Fast 454 & 45
If your not in one of these cars you are behind them. As the 2005 Season reaches the 1/2 way point. 2 racers more than everybody else continue to to be the fastest Legend racers in 2005. (Randy Thompson 19.08 in Calgary and Dave Kindopp 19.01 in Calgary )
#45 Dave Kindopp who has set a track record at Wetaskwin, Medicine Hat, Calgary & Saskatoon as well as winning 2 races in 2005 and #454 Randy Thompson who has won 3 times in 2005 Look for these to racers to battle for the crown at the 2005 Mac's Fire Cracker 50. Anybody can win the race, and their are lots of other racers who have a chance, but you can lay money on the fact, that these to racers will be in the hunt for the top prize.

Watch for Craig Ball to drive again drive for Bob Lotwin at the 2005 Mac's Fire Cracker 50. Craig as a past champion can never be counted out, and as everyone knows, Adrain Ward drove the # 9 to the Mac's Championship in 2004. So we know its a fast racecar.

Another Former Firecracker 50 Champion.
Watch for the return of #55 Gary Lister, as Gary and his Dad Jim Lister make their 2005 Debut at the Mac's Firecracker 50.

Welcome back boys !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look for #99 Tom Hollinshead, who lost his wife earlier in the Year to cancer to be a participant at the 2005 Mac's Fire Cracker 50. Tom is a past winner of the Masters division at the Fire Cracker 50 and Tom would like nothing better than to repeat. Go Tom!
New Look Pepsi Car Ready to Race?

Rick Walls #22
Everybody who witnessed #22 Rick Walls crash July 3rd took a bigh sigh of relief as Rick was released from the ambulance and was seen jumping into the #12 of Rick Blanchette to try and stay in the points race. The accident was big one. To get right back in a Legends racecar after that type of accident, deserves a round of applause.
