The Mac's Froster 50 Salute - 2010

The 2010 Mac’s "Froster 50" is in the books and the 36 Legend race teams made it the Best Froster 50 yet. The night started off with the Legend drivers doing their signature 4 wide salute to the fans. And the fans showed their approval with a standing ovation.

In the Young Lions Dash for Cash, first year racer #18 Jordyn Fancy was the winner.

In the B- Main sophomore racer #88 Jason Fischer won for the 1st time in his young Legend racing career.

In the Mac's Froster 50 A-Main event Pro racer #29 Aaron Friend used a late race restart to get past and hold off the three time and defending Froster 50 Champion #17 Ira Laughy to win the 2010 Mac’s Froster 50 .

#17 Ira Laughy was 2nd overall and was first in the Masters Division.

And home town favourite #24 Brad Blumer was 3rd overall and was 1st in the Semi Pro Division.

Message From Ron Thompson from Mac's

To all the Mac's Legends Series Drivers and Teams,

First off I was thrilled to have made the Froster 50, it has been far too long. I had a blast and really enjoyed getting to meet the new drivers and teams as well as old friends in this series. It's awesome to see so many young racers as it shows the health of this series and our partnership long term.

Then there was the race. The races within that race and watching several drivers move through the field was fantastic.

I'm glad all had a safe race and everyone had a safe return trip home. I look forward to working another Mac's Legends Race into my schedule very soon. Until then continue to have a fun, safe season.

Ron Thompson

Legends Million Dollar Race

It is less than two weeks away and counting until the first ever Legends Million Dollar race.

And excitement is mounting for what is going to be a historic day for Legend racing. Who would have guessed that the 20 years after the first Legend race car was built, that the Series built on the word "Affordability" would have a $1000,000.00 race.

The Mac’s Legend Racing Series, the Premier Series in Western Canada will be well represented Thanks to the following racers who will make the trip to Charlotte, North Carolina for the big event.

#17 Ira Laughy

#H20 Darrell Buckingham

# 32 Adam Gilbert

# 22 Rick Walls

# 89 Grant McDonald

# 22K Mike Kipp

# 3 RD Bergdahl

# 007 JD Bergdahl

# 19 Brett Semeniuk

# 56 Chris Reid

10 Legend racers from Western Canada, there are no other words than WOW. All 10 are, and will be true ambassadors for our series. Not only that but a couple

of our racers have a shot at a spot in the 30 car A-Main.

All I can say is those 10 Legend racers have already made all of us proud. So what ever they do in the race is a Bonus.

Live Coverage on SPEED Channel - SPEED will provide live coverage of the Million Dollar race starting at 5:30 pm local time with a pre-race show.

Mike & Ikes Dirt Racing Returns - July 17th

July 17th see the Mike & Ikes Legend Dirt Series make it first appearance of 2010 at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton.

Because of the late closure of Rocky Mountain Raceway in Aldersyde this is probably the only Dirt race for 2010.

Saying that, Legends is looking at a large field of 15 or more Legend Dirt racers.

If you have not seen Legends on Dirt, then we strongly suggest that you make your way out to Castrol Raceway in Edmonton on the 17th of July.

Legend Thunder - Kalispell, Montana

Third year racer #66 Val Groebmair wanted to go to "Legends Thunder" in Kalispell, Montana so he recruited #29 Aaron Friend to come along. And the boys made the best of it with Val winning Semi Pro and Aaron finishing 2nd in the Pro Division.

What made it even more special for Val was this was the second race with the new paint scheme and also the second race for his new sponsor Varsity Chrysler.

Not sure if that smile on Val’s face is because of his first win in or weather it’s the $1000.00 check for his first win.

Two other drivers also made the trip down and showed well, Jody Archer in the #7 Pro car finished strong as did Jordyn Fancy.

Legend Live On

Ever wonder what happens to old wrecked Legend racecars. Well wonder no more as this racecar was the wrecked Legend racecar body of #27 Jamie Beatson that caught on fire in 2005 at EIR, and the twisted chassis of #22 Rick Walls that barrel rolled in Calgary in 2004.

What Ron Lyseng did with the pieces is truly remarkable, and sometime in 2010 or early 2011 the car will hit the road course track in Winnipeg.

These pictures are of the car still under construction, but Ron promises some finished pictures in the not too distant future.

The car is now a 2 seater and the motor will be in the rear, and the more you look at the pictures the more you realize the wow factor in what he has done. Check out the rear fender 37 Chev fenders mounted backward and cut in half.

Pit's from the Pit's

#5 Jason Wilkie debuted his new look Legend racecar at the Mac’s "Froster 50" and the racecar runs as good as it looks.

Jason should take up painting as he again did all the paint and body work himself. And since this picture was taken Jason has added his and the Series Sponsor Decals.

By the looks of this picture you can tell that 2nd year racer #20 Bob "Sheriff" Rattai is happy. And why shouldn’t he as in his first race of 2010 at EIR Sheriff Bob won his first Heat Race and his first A-Main in the Masters Division.

To say Bob is a Happy Legend racers is an understatement.

Pictured here is #88 Jason Fischer who in his second year won the B-Main at the 2010 Mac’s Froster 50. Jason may have one of the smaller racing budgets, but what he lacks in $$ he more than makes up with his enthusiasm and smile.

I have said it before and I will say it again Jason is what Legends racing is all about. The win couldn’t have gone to a better racer.

He may not own a Legend racecar, but Danny Hinds and the #50 Dent Clinic Legend racecar will be racing in 2010.

Legends had a naked legend racecar, and Danny had a company The Dent Clinic that wanted a presence on a Legend racecar. And not only that but Danny wanted to race at the August 7th race in Saskatoon that will be Sponsored by Lane Sorenson who owns the Dent Clinic franchise in Saskatoon.
