NAPA Auto Parts Sponsor Announcement

It was 10 Years ago UAP/NAPA and Legend Cars of Alberta signed their 1st Partnership Agreement.

This year marks the 10th Season of the Partnership and over this time UAP/NAPA changed names to NAPA Auto Parts. And this is the 10th Year that NAPA Auto Parts has been the Official Parts Supplier to the Legend Racing Series.

NAPA Auto Parts Sponsorship started small, and has just continued to grow. The growth of this Sponsorship includes

- Title Sponsor of the 2006 NAPA Auto Parts Northern Series
- Sponsor of the # 55 NAPA Auto Parts Legend Renegade Racing School car & # 55 NAPA Auto Parts Legend Renegade Racing School Barbeque
- Sponsor of the # 55 NAPA Auto Parts Legends Rental Racecar driven by Dave McKean of Lloydminster
- For 2006 NAPA Auto Parts will have a Legends Racer Discount Card for all the Teams to purchase parts at a Special Discounted price. Stay Tuned for Details!

NAPA Auto Parts has found out that the Legends Renegade Racing School is a Terrific Marketing tool to say Thank You to its Customers and Dealers. 2006 will see NAPA Auto Parts doing Schools in Calgary, Edmonton & Saskatoon.

Legends is Proud of its 10 year of Partnership with NAPA Auto Parts.

It is with a heavy heart that I write that Dave "the kid" Kindopp cannot race in 2006 nor may he ever be able to race again.

Dave called me about a week ago, his voice kind of trembling, and he told my how a simple collision while playing non contact hockey leads to a stroke and a week long stay in the cardiac ward of the Foothills Hospital. Dave has a tear to 2 arteries that run up the back of his neck. Dave will be on blood thinners for at least a year. The Doctors fear of Dave re-injuring the arteries has led to Dave hanging up the helmet for now and maybe forever.

Dave came into this sport about 4 years ago following in the footsteps of Craig Ball. Dave first drove the #34 car for Mike Rae and proceeded to run away with the Semi Pro Championship in 2003. In 2004 it was decided to put Dave in the #45 Legend racecar and take a run at the 2004 Pro Championship. Dave again proved his driving savvy as he won both the NAPA Auto Parts Touring Series & Northern Series. 2005 was a year like Legends has never seen and may never see again as Randy Thompson the 2004 Semi Pro Champion and winner of 12 races in 2004 in the #454 and Dave in the #45 would put on a show that had people in AWE. Randy and Dave were in a tug of war trying to see who would win the most races. But when it came to qualifying Dave would have no equal, as he set the track record at Wetaskiwin, Medicine Hat, Saskatoon & Calgary. And as some people like to say he didn't just break the track records he Smashed them. Race after race in 2005 saw Dave & Randy putting on a driving clinic the likes of which we may never see again.

Being the car owner and the Crew Chief when Dave's brother Dan went back to School, I will never forget the last race of 2005 at Race City as Dave not only smashed the track record with a 18:85, but drove the race of his life, a race that is etched in my memory forever. It must be said that Legends had and has some of the best drivers, and is a breeding ground for futures stars. And David ranks right up there with the Best of them.

On a personal note I and Legend Cars of Alberta are Proud to have helped the careers of Craig "Fast" Ball, Shawn "Iron Chef" Bower, Randy "Junior" Thompson and Dave "the Kid" Kindopp.

We are not sure who will drive the #45 Legend racecar, but I do know 2 things:

1. Whoever that person may be they will have very big shoes to fill.
2. If Dave is ever able to drive again, there will always be a seat in the #45 waiting for him.

Dave wanted me to tell everybody that although he can't race he will still be around the race track in 2006 as he, like everyone else has Legends in his blood.

If anyone wants to get a hold of Dave and wish him well, his email address is: dkindopp@telus.net
