Legends Cars of Alberta congratulate all of our 2006 Champions. This year we had 3 separate championships to race for, the "Chase for the Mac's Cup", the Legends Touring Series and the Legends Northern Series. This format gave everyone something to race for as some people chose to focus on specific races that were part of different championships such as the "Chae for the Mac's Cup", which was 4 races this year. In 2006, we had 5 different champions:

Pro "Chase for the Mac's Cup", Touring and Northern Championships

Winning in all three Pro championships was Randy Thompson in the #01 Webster Motorsports car. Randy had a near perfect season this year winning all but one feature event with blinding speed and championship worthy consistency and reliability. The team put on a clinic in driving, preparation and reliability all season long. Rumor has it that this team may be moving onto bigger and better things.

We wish them all the best in their future racing pursuits!

Winning the Masters "Chase for the Mac's Cup" was the #78 car of Brian Mario. BJ and his Top Gun Coatings team had another great season this year on the heels of a championship in 2005. BJ and his team keep getting faster and more competitive every time they are at the track, look for the team to defend their Mac's Cup championship in '07.

Winning the Masters Touring and Northern Championships was the #12 team of Rick Blanchette. Rick came on in the second half of the season and was the car to beat in the Masters Division and was in the hunt of overall wins running at the front of the pack. Rick put that speed to good use and took home a pair of championships.

Winning the Semi Pro "Chase for the Mac's Cup" was Grant MacDonald. Grant is in his second year of racing Legends and made huge strides this year with heat and feature wins in the Semi Pro Class.

Winning the Semi Pro Touring and Northern Championships was the driver of the #15 NAPA car, Dave McKean. Like Grant MacDonald Dave had a break out year in 2006 with a number of heat and feature wins to his credit and good speed and consistency brought home a pair of championships. Look for both of these Semi-Pro drivers to move up to the Pro or Masters division next year.

The last racing weekend of the year was also the weekend Renegade Racing Schools and Mac's Convenience Stores got together for the annual Mac's Suppliers driving school. Many of the suppliers that work with Mac's and their racing programs were on hand to try their hand at driving a Legends race car. The day started out with a little bit of classroom work before getting in the cars for a day of on track activities. Dave Picket put them through their paces as they progressed quickly showing signs of potential racing greatness. Mac's Motorsports and Racing drivers were on hand to help the new racers in and out of their cars, on hand were Don Fergin of the Drag Bike Team, Super Late Model and Legends racer Craig Ball and Legends drivers Brent Hackl and Ira Laughy.

For some added excitement Craig Ball brought out his two seater Late Model for some Ride Alongs. Ace race driver and Mac's Senior Executive Kim Trowbridge did the majority of lead follow work during the day in the Legends car as well as taking his guests for rides in the two seater car later in the day.

The whole day was a huge success as everyone had a great time and got a chance to experience something new!
