A Note from
Mac’s Convenience Stores to all the Legends Racer’s
At our meeting in Red Deer I announced the expansion of the Mac’s
Chase and the fact that we had worked with our sponsor partners to
"Title" each Chase Race in 2007. Well we have run into a little glitch
in that all the FAN hoopla we had hoped to create at these events
will NOT be happening at the three CHASE events we have scheduled at
Race City, Calgary.
Mac’s Convenience Stores, Rome and Scout Communications (the agency
now handling sponsorship for Race City), could not come to an
agreement for 2007.
The real issue was that the new operator and his agency would not
recognize the past investment made by Mac’s in this facility. As
such in 2007 Mac’s will no longer be a Sponsor or be selling advance
tickets to Race City.
This is very disheartening for all of us at Mac’s as we not only
made a significant financial investment but most of the Legends
Racers also know the effort that Kim, Dave and myself have put into
that facility and making this the Series home over the years.
Mac’s wishes Race City continued success as it is you the drivers
that will suffer if the facility does not turn around and is forced
to close.
So for those three Chase races at Race City we will thank the fans
after the racing is completed and you the drivers will hand out the
chocolate bars or coupons to those that come down to the pits.
The top three drivers will still receive an award from the Title
supplier of the race, it just will not be at the finish line.
These events could have had a greater impact, but I know I can
depend on all of you and your families and crew members to still
make our events a fan experience.
Regards,
Ron Thompson

Auto Value World of Wheels 2007
The Legend
Cars of Alberta display at the World of
Wheels was a big hit. We had some very good
looking race cars in the display this year
as well as having Brent Hackl and the Mac's
Motorsports #3 car in the show with his own
display and the Auto Value #07. The World of
Wheels is always a great opportunity to get
the cars out on display and generate even
more interest in our series.

The big prize for our
category went to the #4 car of Larry Carlson. Larry's
car was beautifully turned out with an amazing amount of
detailing that went into every part of his car. It sure
looked good in the show and if it is anything like last
year it will be really fast on the track as well. Larry
will be running for the Pro Championship in 2007. |

will giveaway Snap-on Tools in 2007. Snap-on will

To Qualify for this prize a racer must have competed
in 6 races in 2007 and a racer will receive one
ballot for each race entered.
The more you race, the better your odds of winning.
Willie Vass who owns Vass Performance Cycle has been
a Series Sponsor for 10 Years, Vass Performance
Cycle became the Authorized Engine Builder for 600

Both Vass Performance Cycle and Legend Cars of

The Legends
Silly Season continues:
Rob Armour from Calgary buys the #123 car from Gord Lair in
Edmonton. Gord purchased the car 3 years ago and has never had the
time to race it. Rob raced IMCA for 3 years then took 2 years off.
Michael Labrie from Edmonton has purchase the #99 from Tom
Hollinshead.
Kevin Barton from Calgary who raced Hobby stocks has purchase the
#13 from Jeff McCrae. Jeff quit racing 2005.
Let's give the new guys a warm welcome
to Legends. |

But he also says and it has been confirmed that
Adrian Ward will return to the drivers seat and
will drive the #34 in Saskatoon for the
"Froster 50" and 3 or 4 races at Race City. |
