The 2008 Legends racing season came to an end with the annual awards banquet. This years banquet was one of the best yet. The annual banquet is a great opportunity for race teams, volunteers, sponsors and their families to get together and celebrate the racing season. The 2008 racing season was a very memorable season with great racing in all classes, a large number of new racers and very close points battles throughout. Legend Cars of Alberta would like to congratulate all of the 2008 champions and thank everyone for another successful season. 2009 is just around the corner.

Legends "People" of the Year Award

Every year Legend Cars of Alberta gives out the Legends Man of the Year Award. The past winners include a Journalist – Robert Rooney, a Crew Chief – Jim Lister, a Series Sponsor Ron Thompson, a Dealer/Partner Foster Phillips and a racer Danny Hinds. This year the winners are a husband and wife team, Geoff & Shirley Winters who run Scoring and INEX Tech for Legends. They are both tireless workers who give countless hours of their time to make sure that we have the Best INEX Tech of any Series and the most accurate scoring and timing at every race track we go to.

Geoff takes INEX Tech very seriously and works tirelessly to make sure we have safe, legal racecars. And Shirley does the work of 3 people in getting practice and qualifying times as well as the lineups at each race day. Because Geoff and Shirley do such a Great job, we the racers as well as the Race Tracks take INEX Tech & Scoring for granted.

New Racer Profile - Jason Fischer

Jason Fischer from Edmonton, Alberta has bought the # 7 from Jody Archer. Jason will change the car number from the #7 to the #8.

Jason would like to thank Shawn Clarke who owns All About The Fans Ltd and his Father in Law who owns EK Distribution and BC Bearing as these companies have come on board as Associate Sponsors for the 2008 season.

Jason lacks in racing experience but more than makes up for it with his enthusiasm for racing. Good Luck Jason!

Bits from the Pits: Jody Archer made his intentions known heading into 2009 as he has just purchased the two time defending Mac's Cup Pro Champion car from Ira Laughy. Jody sent us this picture of the now naked #17 car which will soon be the #7 car. As you can see by the picture everybody is pretty pumped about the new racecar in the Driveway!
	#9 Bill Busby tells us that he may split the driving chores in 2009 chores with his son Mathew. Mathew will run in Semi Pro and Bill will run as a Pro or Master in 2009. Stayed tuned for Bills Decision. Also watch for a new look with the #9 in 2009. The back of Bill's car was tore up pretty bad at the Nationals in Minnesota so Legends will install a new body in time for the 2009 Season.
The good word from Mike Rae, the well liked but seldom seen car owner of the #34 Dent Clinic racecar tells me it’s a done deal that Cariton his son will drive and that the car will carry the colors of Race Track RV in Airdrie. Mike says now that we are short track racing he may also get behind the wheel in 2009.

2008 Legends Silly Season

The Legends off Season becomes what we call Silly Season and here are a few of the Changes you will see for 2009. Jason Fischer buys the #7 from Jody Archer and will change it to # 8. Jody Archer buys the #17 from Ira Laughy and will change it to #7, meanwhile Ira will now run his #34 Ford Sedan which he ran twice in 2008.
#33 Darryl Hogenson buys the #86 from Greg McTavish and Randy Peppler and Darryl will move from the #33 to the #86 and his son Andy will drive the #33. Wayne Miller sells the #45 to Jason Jessiman who will continue to drive the #77 and the #45 will now become the #88 and will be driven by Brad Plumber. Doug Bender who bought the #6 from Al Brown will put Tyler Walls who is the son of #22 Rick Walls in the #6 for 2009. Ken MacKinnon sold the #52 to Kerry Nevette who will change it to #96.

And if this isn’t enough stay tuned as we will announce 3 or 4 more changes in the next month or 2.
