| Kart Racers Invade 2009 Legends
Racing Series Legend Cars
of Alberta has experience tremendous growth over the years and 2009
is shaping up to be another great year of growth for the series.
Racers come from many different backgrounds and age groups but 2009
is going to be a big year for a number of Kart racers that are
making the transition into Legends racing. We have had a number of
karters over the years join Legends and they have done very well.
Drivers such as Randy Thompson and Ira Laughy both got their early
racing starts in karts and went on to win championships in Legends.
In 2009 though we will have three
recent karting graduates taking to the Semi-Pro class which should
prove to be very entertaining. These racers have spent years racing
against each other in karts and will now bring their very
competitive backgrounds to the ovals of Western Canada and the US
Northwest. Legend cars of Alberta would like to introduce the
following kart racers making the move to Legends. |
|
|

Adam Gilbert
Adam will be heading
into his second season of Legends racing in 2009, he split his
season in 2008 between karting events and Legends. With a season
under his belt and progressively better finishes in Legends Adam
will be a real contender for the 2009 Semi-Pro Championship. Adam
and his father Owen have been racing together for many years, having
enjoyed a very successful stint in karting, racing as far away as
British Columbia and California. Owen
will be the crew chief on the car again in 2009. Adam and Owen have
been working closely with Hugh Williamson on getting the cars
rebuilt and ready for the upcoming season. |

Kyle Stevens
Kyle comes back into
Legends racing after a stellar career in karts, having won multiple
championships at all levels of karting. Kyle did one Legends race a
couple of years ago at Wetaskiwin and always said he would like to
come back and do it again. Kyle will be racing the #38
Laughy Racing '34 Ford Sedan owned by Ira Laughy. Kyle will be
sponsored by Doug's Place Collision Repair, Dynaserve Fleet
Management and DynEco Automotive Service Centre Ltd. Kyle will be
racing in the Semi-Pro class and running for Rookie of the Year and
in the Chase for the Mac's Cup. Like Adam and Owen Gilbert, Kyle and
his father Mark have been inseparable for years on the racing scene.
Mark will once again be by Kyle's side as the crew chief on the
Legends car. |

Mike Czaja
I was first introduced to "Karting" while on holidays in
Fairmont, BC. in 1999 when I was only 8 years old. The
attendant at the rental go kart track in Fairmont
noticed me driving around the race track passing
everyone. He suggested that I should someday take go
kart racing seriously. Ever since then, I dreamed of one
day being able to go kart race competitively!
My dream became reality in May 2003
when I entered my first competitive race at Stratotech International
Raceway in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta with my very own Go Kart!
"My dad and I both
agreed that it was the right time to take the next step towards
becoming a racecar driver. We both agreed that legends was the best
way to follow my dream and our decision was confirmed by me taking
the Renegade racing school and being able to take a legends car out
and test it. I found that the car was very easy to control and felt
just as fast as a kart. The comfort level when I got into the car
and how I adapted from a kart to a real racecar really put the icing
on the cake for us". |

Kerry Nevatte
Kerry Nevatte has
joined close friend and current legends racer Aaron Friend #29 in
the newly formed 2 car team of Kinetic Motorsports. Kerry has been
racing motorsport in one form or another since the late 80’s
starting in motocross and working his way into Karting where he has
spenT the last few years. “I have had a lot of fun over the years,
always looking to try something new” says Kerry “Karting has been a
big part of my life over the last several years both racing and
working with younger drivers on their development. I have traveled
across Western Canada and the States as both mechanic and racer, and
have met a lot of people and had lots of fun” “After watching Aaron
at a few races and attending the Renegade School put on by Wayne, I
got the legends bug…. the people are what make a good series and
from the people that I have spoke with, and the people I have seen
around the pits there is no doubt in my mind legends racing is going
to be fun. I’m looking forward to being part of the family” Kerry
will be racing the #96 car this year, he asks that you stop by and
say hello. |
