June Events

June is shaping up to be full month of exciting racing! Here are the events for June:

June 14 – Full Throttle presented by Boston Pizza. A Saturday night event with funny cars and nitro! The Full Throttle event is going to be HOT! There will be Nitro Funny Cars, Pro Nostalgia Funny Cars, Hot Rods, Quick Rods, Top Eliminator, Box, No Box, Juniors and Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars! Featuring the return of Terry Capp and his Bubble Up Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car! Tickets are $25.00 for Adults, $15.00 for Youth & Seniors and kids 6 & under are free. Gates open at 2pm.
June 15 – Father’s Day Full Throttle presented by Don Wheaton Chev Old’s. Looking for a fun way to spend your Father’s Day, we have it! Come and watch as Quick Rod, Top Eliminator, Box, No Box, Juniors, Pro Nostalgia, Nitro Funny Cars and Nitro Nostalgia Funny Cars put on a show you won’t want to miss. And the best part is, if you bring the coupon on the top of this newsletter you and your family get in for FREE!! So grab everyone and come and enjoy the races on Castrol Raceway!
June 21 – Mopar is At The Track! The Edmonton Mopar Club is back at the track this year for another exciting event! This event will also be hosting a Show n Shine, Mopar Drag Racing and a Street Legal Race. For more information on this event, please visit their website at www.edmontonmoparclub.ca.

June 28 & 29 – NPP Oilmen’s Invitational. If you love Late Model and Stock Car racing this event is for you! Watch as the NPP Late Models and the Stock Cars compete on the 3/8th Mile Clay oval for huge cash prizes! This event is full of excitement as these cars are out to win! It’s just $15.00/day for Adults, $10.00/day for Youth & Seniors and kids 6 & under are free!

June 28 & 29 – CMDRA All Bike Drags presented by The Harley Dealers of Alberta. If you like speed, you won’t believe how fast these guys are going on 2 wheels! This event features a number of different classes including the Nitro Bikes going over 200 mph! This 2 day show is packed full of breath holding excitement with the smells of burning rubber and nitro in the air. Its just $20.00 for adults each day or $30.00 for both days, kids 12 & under are free.

Rocky Mountain Nationals

In less than a month, the stars of the IHRA Nitro Jam series are back at Castrol Raceway. On July 4-6, the Cars RV & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals will be bringing excitement and big competition. With a new track surface from the 1/8th mile to the 1/4 mile, and the entire surface being profiled, the competitors are looking to shatter the current ET and mph records!

New Drag Surface

Castrol Raceway has replaced the Drag Surface spanning from the 1/8th mile to the 1/4 mile. The asphalt was ground down 3 inches and replaced with new asphalt. On June 22, a crew from the USA will be here to profile the entire drag strip, leaving Castrol Raceway with an awesome new track surface that will be nice and smooth from the start line to the finish line. Be sure to come out and check it out once everything is completed.

Exciting Announcement for Oval Fans & Racers

Effective for the June 21 Niter Thunder, Castrol Raceway will be resurrecting the once very popular Jr. Race Fan program. Race fans 15 years old and younger can print their name and the name of their favorite racer on the back of the youth ticket stub and place in the draw box. The lucky winner will receive a trophy and have their photo taken with the Driver that they have chosen.

In addition we will be adding three annual season awards. During the Castrol year end banquet the Most Improved Driver, Best Appearing Team and Most Sportsmanlike Team will be recognized. There will be one overall winner for each award category.
