August's Events:

August 16th and 17th – NADP 5th Annual August Blackout

This is a DIESEL engine vehicle only event. Over $35,000 in cash available to winners. Classes available for every type of racer. In the 2 days of competition, you can take in the many sights and sounds at Castrol Raceway. Drag racing, sled pulling, burnout contest, show n shine contest, a huge Midway with suppliers and memorabilia, exhibition racing from 2 Jet Cars, exhibition pulls from ATPA members, a huge after party and some of the best diesel competition you will ever see in Canada. Adult admission is $10/day, kids 12 and under are $5/day. VIP all weekend passes are $50.

August 22nd and 23rd – Boston Pizza World of Outlaws Oil City Cup
They're Back! The greatest sprint car drivers in the world will slide into Castrol Raceway in 2008 for the Oil City Cup, the series only two-day event in Canada. The event will feature the World of Outlaws 410 Sprint Cars and NPP Late Models. Racing is at 7 PM. Two day passes available Reserved Adult $85, Youth $45, and Children 6 and under $20 General Admission Adult $65, Youth $25, Children 6 and under Free.

August 30th – Don Wheaton Ltd. Absolute Annihilation
Break it, Bend it, Crash it, Burn It... we do it all on Annihilation Night at Castrol Raceway. Don't miss this night of absolute destruction. Gates open at 5pm. An Adult ticket is $20, Youth and Senior are $10 and Children 6 and under are free.

Rocky Mountain Nationals

Big Thanks to all our sponsors JCB/Cervus – Cars RV and Marine – Part Source and those of you that came to check out the 3 days of action packed fun.

Thanks to Holly and all the staff that made our catering & hospitality a success for RMN's and to Menno for supplying us with the Kitchen, also to Bob Ronnie for catering on Saturday night of the Nationals. To all, a great job done! Also big thanks to Rick for overseeing and managing our alcohol sales.

And to all the staff: Thanks for a job well done.

Monster Energy Motocross Nationals

Thanks to Labatt's for bringing out the Budweiser rig for Motocross Nationals. The Girls really enjoyed being closer to the action: a great addition to the event!

A huge thanks to all the volunteers with the Alberta OldTimers Motocross Association, who put in countless hours both before and during the event making sure the track was in top shape for what is now the best CMRC National event!

Dale Creasy Jr. Update

After a crash left him at the Royal Alexandra Hospital following the Nitro Jam CARS & Marine & Motorsports Rocky Mountain Nationals, Dale Creasy JR. is back home in Illinois and continuing his recovery. During the event his Nitro Funny Car had a major parts failure in the drive line which lead to the 2 time defending World Champion to be air lifted from Castrol Raceway.

Although he suffered many injuries to his legs during the incident, Castrol Raceway is happy to report that he is on the road to recovery and even attended the last Nitro Jam event to lend his support to his fellow racers.

Castrol Raceway would like to thank all of the Edmonton and area fans, fellow racers & crews, sponsors and supporters who called and sent messages to Dale Creasy Jr and his family. Everyone at Castrol Raceway wishes Dale a speedy recovery and we look forward to seeing him back at the track in full racing action for the 2009 Season!
