September’s Events:

Freedom Ford Bracketeers drag racing wraps up this month. Come and check out the last couple weekends of racing from our local Alberta talent in the Electronics, Non Electronics, Top Eliminator, Quick Rod and Jr. Dragsters classes. Racing is scheduled:

September 6th and 7th
September 20th and 21th (Finals)

Daytona Homes Nite Thunder also commences this month after an amazing season. Come and check out action on our Clay Oval featuring 360 Sprints, Sportsman Sprints, and Late Models. Racing is scheduled:

September 20th (Season Championship and AST)

September 13 & 14th – CMDRA Bike Drag Finals
All Bikes - All day plus Nitro Harley's. Don't miss the greatest show on two wheels. Gates at open at 9AM and racing starts at 11AM. Driver and Crew each $20. An Adult and Senior ticket is only $20, and Children 12 and under are free.

Torco Race Fuels Year End Sale
Torco Racing Fuels Canada is putting on a year end sale on all remaining Mach 110 and Mach 112. The cost on these will be by the drum only, Mach 110 - $500.00 and Mach 112 - $540.00. To order your drum, please call the Castrol Raceway office. There is a limited amount of fuel kept at the track so to take advantage of this sale you must order with the office, 780-461-5801.

A Well Oiled Machine: Meyers Wins Finale of Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway

Jason Meyers was part of history on Saturday night in the finale of the Oil City Cup Presented by Boston Pizza, as he won a thrilling dual with two-time defending Advance Auto Parts World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion Donny Schatz and 20-time champion Steve Kinser, before a capacity crowd, to pick up his eighth A-Feature win of the season. The crowd was the largest in the history of Castrol Raceway, and they saw Meyers become the fourth driver in the same number of events with the World of Outlaws to win at the track.

Alberta Loves Doin’ it in the Dirt!

This past weekend the Boston Pizza: Oil City Cup descended on the Dirt Oval at Castrol Raceway and what a race! A tornado of fans joined us on Friday and Saturday to witness Canada’s only World of Outlaws Sprint Car event. Saturday brought about the largest crowd ever on the oval track; by 7pm it was standing room only. Ticket sales for each night far exceeded the expectations of both Castrol Raceway management and World of Outlaw officials. Officials were so impressed with the crowds they have already established the date for next years event; August 28 & 29, 2009. Watch our website closely as the Save Your Seat program will be up and running in the next few weeks. If you want to be guaranteed a seat for next years event-purchase early!

A huge Thank You goes out to Kelly McClung and the Team at Boston Pizza. It is with their support we can make this event possible. As the Title sponsor of the Oil City Cup we hope they are proud to be involved with Canada’s ONLY World of Outlaws event. Boston Pizza a great friend of racing. Make sure to visit your local Boston Pizza, thank them and they may be back. (Let’s see if we can convince Boston Pizza to create a “Methanol” Pizza for the die hard race fans).

Another Big Thanks goes to Power Plus and the Lassu Family for hosting the very Exclusive VIP Checkered Flag Club. Guests of Power Plus Checked Flag Club enjoyed great seats, private autograph sessions, excellent food and beverage service, and of coarse the annual collector hat.

Our Staff went above and beyond both nights; huge crowds and intense activity kept all on their toes. Thank you to each and every member of our team for helping make this the most successful event our oval track has ever seen.

2008 Banquet

As the season is drawing to a close, Castrol Raceway is in full gear planning its year end banquet for all the Race Teams and Staff. Mark your calendar as the Banquet will be on November 1 at the Devon Community Hall. Tickets are $35.00 each. To order your tickets, please call the Castrol Raceway office at 780-461-5801. Tables of 8 are available for $280.00

2009 Save My Seat

If you thought the Nitro Jam Rocky Mountain Nationals and the World of Outlaws Oil City Cup were awesome shows this year, its only going to be bigger and better next year! Watch the mail as the Save my Seat information will be sent out over the next couple weeks. Be sure to Save your Seat for the 2009 events and become part of racing history in Edmonton!
