State of the City
Mayor Stephen Mandel presented his annual State of the City address to a sold-out crowd of close to 1,400 people at the Shaw Conference Centre on Wednesday, May 9, 2007.
In his speech, the Mayor focused on the need to move forward in solving the existing impasse on regional cooperation and he set forth a long-term vision for the City in areas of affordable housing, social investments, the arts, infrastructure and the environment. The Mayor also outlined plans to move forward on redevelopment of the east part of downtown, under a new neighbourhood brand: The Quarters.
