City Centre Airport Lands Public Involvement Project
The future of the Edmonton City Centre Airport (ECCA) is one of the biggest decisions we will make in 2009, and your input is vital. Council directed city administration to prepare a number of reports on the future of the City Centre Airport lands including preparing a Public Involvement Plan (PIP), the results of which will be presented to Executive Committee in June 2009.
The idea is to engage the community in a discussion on the opportunities and challenges of current and future land use at the Edmonton City Centre Airport Lands. There are many ways to get involved. |

Edmonton's Taskforce on Community Safety
The role of the Edmonton Taskforce on Community Safety is to come up with a plan to make Edmonton a safe community, with reduced crime and improved security for Edmontonians. Appointed late last year, its focus is on long-term “preventative” rather than “punitive” strategies that will leave residents with a greater feeling that they live in a safe community. Its recommendations will not be about correctional facilities or finding better ways to clamp-down on crime after it’s committed. It’s about finding creative and effective programs and strategies that can help reduce crime before it even happens. The Taskforce’s final report with strategies and tangible, measurable recommendations is expected by June, 2009.
