Race 1 - May 15th, 2010 at Edmonton International Raceway

Froster 50 Salute - 2008

2010 marks the 16th Year of Legends racing in Western Canada and the Mac’s Legend Racing Series continues to grow. Saturday May 15th kicks of the 2010 Mac’s Legend Racing Series season at Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin.

And along with the new race season, comes a new crop of Rookies wanting to try their hand at Legend racing. And along with the Rookies are a cast of seasoned veterans that say its there turn to win the 2010 Chase for the Mac’s Cup Championship or the 2010 EIR Northern Points Championship.

Last year a record 35 Legend drivers ventured North to EIR for round 1 of the the Chase for the Mac’s Cup and the EIR Northern Series and with the weatherman promising good weather, we may just beat that car count.

All of the drivers and crew that make up the teams in the Mac’s Legend Racing Series invite you to come on out and watch the great racing at EIR in Wetaskiwin and see for yourself why the Mac’s Legend Racing Series is the Premier Series in Western Canada.

2010 Schedule - Minus Dirt

Shown below is the 2010 Mac’s Legend Racing Series Schedule. Legends is pleased to announce that for the first time ever Legend Racecars will race in Regina at Kings Park Speedway. Everybody at Kings Park Speedway are excited to showcase the Mac’s Legend Racing Series at their track and I know the Legend Racers are excited to go there.

On another note Legends will again race on the Dirt in 2010 and the schedule should be finalized in the next couple weeks and it will be in the next Newsletter.

The 2010 Chase for the Mac’s Cup will consist of 9 races:

4 at EIR Wetaskiwin / May 15 & 29 Sept 11 & 25
2 at Saskatoon including the 2010 Mac’s “ Froster 50”
2 at Medicine Hat Raceway
1 at Kings Park Raceway in Regina

The 2010 EIR Northern Series will be 5 races. (The July 17th race at EIR will be a non points race).

US Nationals - Lanier Georgia - October 2009

Legends Million Dollar Race

As the Legends Million Dollar race draws nearer we thought we would show you this picture of what 220 Legend racecars looks like.

And to think the expected car count is about 600 Legend racecars

All I can say is WOW, who wouldn’t want to be there!

The Racers Say "Thanks"

#96 Kerry Nevatte, on behalf of all the Legend racers who race in the Mac’s Legend Racing Series presented Ron Thompson from Mac’s Convenience Stores a "Thank You" plaque, thanking Mac’s for 15 Year and counting of Sponsorship of the Series.

To the best of our knowledge this is the longest running Motor Sport Sponsorship of a racing series of any kind in Canada.

Every Legend racer is proud to display the Mac’s Corporate Logo on their windshield and front quarter panel. How could you not when you have a company like Mac’s Convenience Stores that supports a racing series the way Mac’s does.

Driver Profile - Jason Caplette

Two years ago Del Caplette bought a Legend racecar to race, but ended up putting his son Jason behind the wheel. Jason wanted to run asphalt and Del wanted to run dirt, so Jason bought his own car for 2010.

Jason will debut the Army green & black 1937 Chev Sedan pictured here with Sponsorship from Platoon FX out of Calgary who’s motto is "a Physical Fitness Experience".

Jason will also have sponsorship help from Leduc Sheet Metal & Gas Fitting.

The Graphic’s will be done by Pam and her staff at Auto Graphics. This car is guaranteed to be a eye catcher with its Army Green color and Graphics scheme.

Pit's from the Pit's

Pictured is Mike Kipp from Edmonton Alberta and his new #22K 1934 Chev Coupe Legend racecar. Mike and the Kipp Racing team have moved from the Baby Grand Series to Legends for 2010.

They have 2 goals for 2010, take a run at the Pro Championship and go to the million dollar race in Charlotte.

#86 Darryl Hogenson from Red Deer Alberta shows us the new look on the Spectrum Paint & Collision Sponsored Legend racecar.

Darryl has new paint, and a new outlook which includes a lot more Legend racing in 2010. If Darryl races as good as the car looks everybody better watch out.

Pictured is John Lakeman from Sylvan Lake, Alberta who bought Danny Hinds #50 Dent Clinic car in 2009. John is another racer who promises to race more in 2010. John didn’t want to use another racers # and yet he like the #50 so John says lets keep it simple and so the car will soon be running the #05.

Picture is #88 Jason Fischer from Edmonton Alberta. As you can tell by the number on his car, I guess you can tell who is favorite NASCAR driver is.

Jason is in his 2nd year of racing Legends, has his family as a crew and is an example of why Legends racing is so popular. Jason often say’s he doesn’t have a large racing budget, but he makes up for it in having fun.
