2007 Final Race
Weekend Recap
The 2007 Legends
racing season came
to an end with
Legend racers
showing the crowd
some terrific racing
during the Wrigley's
Inferno 50 on Sunday
afternoon. In the
Pro Division #42
Hugh Williamson who
was 3rd in the 2007
"Chase for the Mac’s
Cup" did everything
he could to win the
Championship, he
qualified #1, was
1st in his heat race
and led the most
laps in the Legend
A–Main finishing 2nd
to the #1 car of
Randy Thompson as
the 2 racers swapped
the lead 3 times in
the last 5 laps. #12
Rick Blanchette also
tried hard but came
up short as Rick
finished 4th. The
#38 of Ira Laughy
did what he had to
do to win the Chase
for the Mac's Cup
Championship
finishing 5th, thus
winning the title by
a slim 3 points.
In the Semi Pro
division, what was
shaping up to be a
terrific battle
between the
two young guns #14 of
Curtis Blanchette
and #29 of Aaron
Friend never
materialized as a 50
cent bolt broke in
the #14 car putting
Curtis out of the
race and with #29
Aaron Friend driving
the best we have
seen all year
finished 1st in the
Semi Pro Division
securing his first Legends
Championship. With
both of these young
racers turning Pro
next year, it
is going to be tough
waiting for the 2008
season to begin,
they will be giving
the existing Pros a
run for their money. |

In the Masters
Division #76 Tom
Overholt who at this
time last year was
mending from a
terrible 2006
accident did
everything he could
to beat the #H20 of
Darrell Buckingham
who has been the man
to beat in the
Masters Division for
the last couple of
years. Tom was 1st
in the Masters
Division in the
A-Main but came up a
few points short as
Darrell did
what #38 Ira Laughy
did in the Pro
Division, kept his
nose clean and
finished where he
needed to to clinch
the championship.
Congratulations to
all of the Legend
racers who
participated in the
first ever Mac's
Convenience Stores
"Chase for the Mac’s
Cup". We look
forward to seeing
you back on the
track in 2008.
