Auto Value will be the 2008 Series Sponsor of the Auto Value
Northern Series Championship and as the Sponsor of the Saturday

will be used at all Legends Renegade Racing Schools and Legend Test

Super 8 Returning
for 2008
Legend Cars of
Alberta is Proud to Announce that Super 8 Motels
is returning as an Associate Sponsor of the Mac’s
Legend Racing Series in 2008.
Super 8 will be the Official Motel of
Legends for 2008. Super 8 will again give away rooms at
each race in 2008 and at the Legend Year End
Banquet 2 racers will win a Super 8 Motel room
plus $500.00 in travel money. Room giveaways at
the track for 2008 will
be the Super 8 Motel Long Haul Award given to
the racer that hauls the longest distance to
attend a Legends race.

Legend Cars of Alberta is Proud to
Announce that Swifty’s ESSO will again be an Associate Sponsor of
the Mac’s Legend Racing Series in 2008. Swifty’s Esso will be giving
out $50.00 Gas vouchers to the Low Qualifier in each class at the 8
races that make up the Chase for the Mac’s Cup.
Swifty’s ESSO will again host their 7th Annual Show & Shine on
Saturday July 19th 2008 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Legends at the World of Wheels
The Legend racers have being working
hard to get ready for the 2008 World of Wheels. And the Mac’s Legend
Racing Series will have 8 Legend racecars in the show.
#22 Rick Walls will debut a new paint
scheme courtesy of his Sponsor Alan Rod & Customs
#29 Aaron Friend will debut his new 1934 Chev Coupe
Ira Laughy will replace the # 38 with his old racing # 17 and will
have his #17 M&M’s/Wrigley’s/Seattle's Best Legend racecar
#45 Wayne Miller will have his 34 Ford Sedan with new Sponsor/Direct
Shops
Legend Cars of Alberta will debut 2 new sponsors, the #30 Auto
Graphic’s 30th Anniversary sponsored legend racecar & we are
hoping to be able to debut of
the 34 Chev Legend racecar sponsored by The Rod Shop, word is it will
have a Rat Rod look, we will all just have to wait & see.

Racer Profile - 2007 Semi-Pro Champ Aaron Freind
'07 was
a fantastic year for us in Semi Pro, learning all we could about the car, I
never thought I'd be racing up with the Pro drivers in my first season, let
alone winning the Semi Pro Mac's Cup. I guess with such helpful and approachable
Pro drivers like Ira Laughy and Rick Walls in the series, that made it a lot
easier, not to mention all the amazing help from my parents Debbie and Colin, my
sister Stacey, brother in law Juan and my amazing girlfriend Ashley. In '08,
including the move up to the Pro Division, I am looking to continue learning car
setup, and really starting to enhance my skills and car speed. |
|
With our move up to the Pro division,
we decided to get some new machinery. We bought Al Browns '34 Ford
coupe which had about 3-4 races on it since new. I gave the engine
to Willy from Vass Performance, so he can work his magic. It has a
fantastic paint job on it, and we decided to go with a new set of
chrome race wheels to set it off. I've also decided to purchase new
safety gear this season, including a new Bell helmet, gloves, boots
etc, and most importantly a Hans Device, as you can never be too
safe.
Also with the purchase of the new house, I have my dream race
workshop planned, which will hopefully be started before the end of
February. I'll finally have a place to work on my racecar in comfort! |

We will be making all Legend races
this season, plus we are looking to make 1 or 2 trips down to
Kalispell in the US. Its also possible that ill make the US
Nationals in 08 also. The car will be on display at majority of the
Legend appearances, including the World Of Wheels here in Calgary on
Feb 22nd.
As you can see from the photos, I'm currently looking for a sponsor.
Also the car hauler is also looking a little boring in bright white
paint, and could really look amazing with someone's name up there.

The 2008 season kick off
meeting has been moved to March 8th, 2008 at the
Glenmore Inn in Calgary. The reason for this is that
Wayne has been trying to schedule a chassis clinic and
the thought was that if guys had to travel it would be
best to do the meeting and the chassis clinic on the
same weekend if possible. As the chassis school is very
good, especially for new racers as it covers off chassis
and set up basics but also some very important safety
items we thought it best to try and do them on the same
weekend. Currently, all of the original agenda items
remain on the agenda, if there is anything that you
would like added please forward them onto Ira Laughy at
