Sad News in the Legends Family

Its with a great deal of sadness that I must tell everybody that Tom Hollinsheads wife Cherry Hollinshead passed away Wednesday afternoon at 2:00PM.

I had a tear in my eye and saddness in my heart when Tom told me he held her for one last time and said goodbye, until they meet again in another place.

It seems like only yesterday that I had lunch with  Tom & Cherry and part of our discussion was about how the cancer had been beaten. And now 6 months later she is gone, gone but not forgotten.

As Tom said to me, when you go home tonight, give your wife a hug, and tell her you love her. Nobody knows how long we have, so live for today, forget about tomorrow, and just when you think things can't get worse. Remember how fortunate you are as you still have each other.

To Tom, here is my hand and here is my Heart. To Cherry we will miss you and we will help take care of Tom in your absence. GOOD BLESS

For those wishing to attend Cherry's funeral there will be an internment at Glenwood Memorial Gardens in Sherwood Park at 10:00 am Monday, May 02.

Funeral Services will follow at noon, May 02 at the Sherwood Park Alliance Church, 1011-Cloverbar Road, Sherwood Park. 780.467.8404

2005 Legends Decal Cards

Many of you asked to be included this year, so now’s your chance to get involved in the Legends Decal Card Program for 2005.  This is a great way to recognize your Sponsors and your Fans!

We once again have the opportunity for 10 + driver’s to participate in the car decal program this year.  This will be on a fist come first serve basis.

The cost per driver for 2,000 decals is $ 820 + GST, which includes the photo itself. If there are less then 10 drivers signed up at the time we do the Poster shoot then we will likely not be able to proceed, as the costs per driver rises considerably.

Confirmed thus far are Randy Thompson, Brent Hackl, Dave Kindopp, Danny Hinds, Tim Johnson, Garry Shillington, John Thomas, Ira Laughy and Dave Nehring.  Please let me know your interest in being included this year on or before May 8th.

R&G photo will likely be taking these pictures, this year.  Precision label will be doing the actual decals.

You can reach me by phone at 214-3375 office, 519-5069 cell or 256-4405 home.  I can also be reached by e-mail, ron.thompson@macs.ca rl.Thompson@shaw.ca

I would ask that you forward me your e-mail address so when it comes to proof all the info for the back of your cards we can do so via e-mail.  Start putting your driver profile, accomplishments, goals, fan website and sponsor list together now, so we can get moving on these and hopefully have them in your hands before the 2nd Calgary race of the fast approaching 2005 season.

Mac’s will once again be making the collector posters for these decal cards, as these were a hit last year.

Looking forward to another great season.

Legends Tech Section - By Geoff Winter and the INEX Tech Team

Most of you are in the process of reassembling your cars for the upcoming season so here's some TFE POC hints.

1. Check your seat for radial cracks around the mounting bolts (grade 8 of course).
2. Same thing with the welds , particularly in the seat pan area.
3. Seat belts, vacuum them,  grit and metal filings are murder on them.
4. Helmets and gloves,  old helmets and gloves fit like a good slipper.  But would you wear a slipper on your head??  The worst "non racing deal" enemy of your hat and gloves is sweat. And 75% of you body heat loss is through the top of your head.  So don't store you gloves in your helmet.  Instead get a good quality 100% cotton towel and store it in your helmet until laundry day/ Monday whichever comes first
5. Buying a new helmet?  Remember, Snell approved and SA rated.  Also make sure the Snell
decal is inside the helmet and includes the year and rating.  ie Snell SA 2000.
6. Keep your INEX rule book and current membership in your tool box.  Saves on the soles of those expensive driving shoes!

Last but not least, be kind to your crew chiefs, they've invested a lot of themselves in your toy.
