Ira Laughy and Clay Hair after Friday's Main

All have done a Terrific job of representing all Canadian Legend racers, as they go up against the best Legend racers from the United States, Europe and Canada. All went down to pit there driving skills against the best Legend racers in the World.

In 2009 Ira Laughy traveled to Orlando Florida to race in the Legends WinterNationals, 5 races in 5 nights again racing against the Best Legend racers that Legends has. The one difference this time was Ira was going to race a car prepared and maintained by Chase Pistone and his staff. This allowed Ira to concentrate on one thing RACING.

John Sossoman #14, Tim Brockhouse #00, Clay Hair #29, Ira Laughy #17 get lined up for one of the week long feature races at WinterNationals

For Ira to be the Man he had to beat the Man. In this case Ira had his work cut out for him as Clay Hair and John Sosseman to name a couple of the Best Masters racers in Legends today were in the field. Clay Hair had just finished winning the 2008 Summer Shoot and US Nationals for the umpteenth time.

What does Ira do, he goes out and finish’s 6th on Tuesday, 5th on Wednesday, 4th on Thursday, 2nd on Friday and wins the Pole and finish’s 1st on Saturday. Truth be known Ira also taught Clair Hair something, and that something was you don’t need the bumper to win a race. For those who may not know what I mean by the bumper, racers in the US love to use the bumper coming out of a corner to move the racer in front of you. Ira won the only way he knows how, No Bumper, just driver talent, and the help of a terrific crew led by Chase Pistone.

Congratulations Ira, from everyone in Legends Thanks for making us Proud.

Dirt Track Racing

Rick Blanchette & Hugh Williamson have finalized the 2009 Dirt Race Schedule.

Legends and Dirt Racing are very big in the US and the guys are hopeful that it will be just as big in Canada. It looks like we will have about a dozen Legend racers at each race and with a little luck once the other racers see how much fun Dirt can be the car count will grow.

June 27 - Castrol Raceway - Edmonton

July 4 - Rocky Mountain Raceway - Okotoks

July 18 - Rocky Mountain Raceway - Okotoks

September 26 - Rocky Mountain Raceway - Okotoks

Road Course Race

July 18th, 2009 will be a double Header Weekend as Legend Cars of Alberta will race on the dirt at Rocky Mountain Raceway on the road course and at Stratotech Park in Fort Saskatchewan.

Thanks to the hard work of Owen Gilbert & newcomer Mark Stevens, Legends will do their first Road Course race in 5 years at Stratotech Park.

A quick head count of the Legend racers says we will have 20 to 25 racers.

Click on the map to the right to get a larger version of the racetrack.

Kerry Nevette decided in 2008 that he wanted to move up from Karting and so at the end of last season Kerry purchased the #52 from Ken McKinnon. As you can see Kerry has done a terrific job of rebuilding the now #96 Legend racecar and is part of the 2 car Kinetic Motor Sports Racing Team. The other Team member is #29 Aaron Friend.

Kerry & Aaron debuted the Team at the 2009 World of Wheels

RD "Roadie" Bergdahl from Medicine Hat purchased the many time show winning #3 from Brent Hackl, made some minor changes to make it his and the car made its debut at the 2009 World of Wheels.

As you can see, the car is a real head turner!

Legends gets some East Coast talent.

Chris Reid who has moved from Nova Scotia to Fort McMurray will be joining our Series in 2009.

Chris has 10 years of Sportsman and Late Model experience. He purchase a 1937 Dodge Sedan in 2006 uses car #08 and runs in the Pro Division. Chris’s car will arrive in the next couple weeks and he tells me he looks forward to racing in our Series in 2009.

Another new team to debut at the 2009 World of Wheels is the father son team of Darryl and Adam Hogenson from Red Deer Alberta. Adam "Hoagie Jr" Hogenson will drive the #33 and the Darryl "Hoagie Sr" will drive the #86. If you think the Racecars have that Wow factor, wait till you see the Trailer which has had a complete wrap and Showcases the race team!
