Success on Opening Night
Opening night of The Pirates of Penzance was filled with cheers, memories and great performances. The winner of The Press Gallery Contest - "I Want to be a Pirate" Contest, Karina Cox on stage during opening night.
Over the years of all the community events The Press Gallery has been involved in, this one proved to "hit a note" !
The magical team of the Edmonton Opera, City TV, Edmonton Sun, CTV, West Edmonton Mall, & The Press Gallery entertained the patron's of The Mall by hosting a talent contest.
The talent discovered that day was heads and tails above what anyone expected. We were treated to a delightful audition by Edmonton's newest upcoming star (& winner) 14 year old Karina Cox. Beautiful, talented, & confident Karina lit up the stage on both the Santa Maria that day, as well as her début on the Edmonton Opera stage. Her performance made us all proud and rumour has it Karina was encouraged to formally audition for the Edmonton Opera when she turns 18!
Well done Karina & Thank you to Karina's parents, Denise and Mike Cox, for all your support in the event.
"Karina’s confidence has been greatly affected by the positive feedback she has received from your support and from countless members of the Edmonton Opera. This experience has had and will continue to have a great impact on her love of performing" Denise (Mike) Cox
"I wanted to say thanks again for this amazing experience! Your generous sponsorship of the contest gave me a chance to sing on the Santa Maria and have the opportunity to perform in the opera!" Karina Cox |

Why the Edmonton Opera trusts The Press Gallery to maintain their valuable and ornate wardrobe?
We offer exceptional value in textile care. The Press Gallery does not compromise on the investment choices we make to offer the highest quality garment care available. We are often asked by our customers why they can feel the difference, what makes us unique and how we charge for our services.
The Answers:
Our people: We pride ourselves on attracting, training and maintaining the best technicians in the business. Were you aware that there is no minimum legislative requirement to run a Dry Cleaning business? Training is voluntary but we believe it is necessary. We constantly attend or even host seminars to keep abreast of the newest styles and technologies. In fact, we travel the world to share with and learn from the best.
Our cleaning technology: We were the first in Edmonton to be able to say that we are 100% environmentally friendly. We invested in the Miele wet cleaning technology in 1998, five years ahead of any competitor, which allows us to safely clean "dry clean only" garments in water. In our Dry Cleaning department, we have been perk free since 2002. We have invested in Italian technology that runs synthetic hydrocarbon which is moderately biodegradable, static and odor free, PH neutral and therefore gentle to the skin. Your clothes will drape better and you can see, smell and feel the difference!
Our finishing technology: We do not press or iron most of your garments. Noticeable exceptions are your commercially washed blouses and dress shirts, and pants that require creasing. Most other garments are steamed and tensioned from the inside with state of the art finishing technology from Germany and Korea. Your suit linings will look like they have been hand finished without ever being touched by an iron!
Your commercially laundered shirt collars are automatically tensioned (re-stretched). You will never complain of a shrunk collar again!
Our packaging: We believe in practical and ergonomic packaging. We have listened to our customers, suppliers and even competitors to produce the correct number of pieces per invoice, in the right combinations on the correct hangers, with the right accoutrements, to best preserve the finish without producing unnecessary waste.
Our services: Like many of our competitors, we offer a full range of services; however, we are distinguished for excellence in Suede and Leather cleaning, wedding gown restoration and preservation. The Bridal House and Bridal Debut recommend us to their clients.
We excel in heirloom pieces including Teddy bears. We are the first choice among top retailers for their corporate work; some examples are Henry Singer, Holt Renfrew, Louis Vuitton, Danier Leather and Rosenoir Fashion Leather. We are also the official cleaner for The Edmonton Opera, who appreciate excellence!
Our affiliation: We keep on top of our skills, technological advancements and procedures with our affiliation and membership in The International Fabricare Institute (IFI) and The Alberta Textile Care Association (ATCA), since 1987!
