*Oxidized colours, (faded dyes due to exposure to sun and enviromental pollutants) can rarely be restored.
*Protein Stains such as blood, milk, urine, ice cream etc. bind to the fat in the leather and are very difficult to remove.
*Other stains, such as ink, oil, alcohol, that can be removed in textiles may bind to, redye, strip or scar the leather and may not be removed.
During the tanning process pre-existing flaws such as cuts, abrasions, scivy, and other deffects are masked. After cleaning they may become visible.
How often should I have my Leather and Suedes cleaned?
Like any other garment that you cherish you need to maintain them if you wish to keep your investment looking at it's best.
We recommend yearly for heavily used leathers - the ones that you always seem to wear most during a season; every second year for the ones that you wear as a fashion statement for special occasions and light use.
Whenever you have heavily soiled areas, stains or the dye is fading for whatever the reason, it is usually time to have your Suede or Leather cleaned and treated. |
