Cleaning Hint;

Consider cleaning your garments prior to putting them away. Whether for a short term or through an entire season. If they require cleaning, it pays to service them prior to, rather than after, storage.

The Reason;

1.) It prevents insect damage. The myth is that insects eat fibers.....they do not. They chew through the fibers to get to the food stuff left behind after wearing. Our cleaning solution flush away the impurities and stains that insects consider food, thereby eliminating insect damage.

2.) Stains can set with time. The process is called oxidization. A stain that may easily be removed when fresh can set through oxidization, and may not be successfully removed after storage. An obvious example is paint, but this process occurs on many other type of stains as well.

3.) Stains are rarely PH neutral. The acid or alkaline in stains can adversely effect dyes or even weaken or dissolve some fabrics. An example is an orange juice stain on cotton. The juice is acetic and cellulose (plant base fibers), such as cottons, are prone to damage from acids. The affected material are weakened by the stain and may dissolve in the gentlest of cleaning if not treated within a few months.
