March 2007
Winter construction nearly complete!

Mining of sand for our total operation was an important bonus this winter. We have managed to fill our pit on the West course along with stock piling sand on the south course in preparation for the future changes. We would have been remiss if we had not taken advantage of this situation; though it cost a few dollars to move over the winter its payback will be considerable. So far the weather is cooperating in regards to spring thaw and with any luck we will be in full construction mode by mid April.

Phase 3 has been a priority over the winter with the near completion of the lake in the next couple of weeks. You can see as the frost begins to come out of the ground it becomes a much more difficult procedure to complete even with large equipment. However we are more than ¾ done and should be on schedule to complete the lake by the end of March. Our engineers have been working with us on a few changes on the roadway which should prove beneficial to the overall project. I am hoping to disclose the new layout for Phase 3 in the next three weeks.

Underground springs prove bonus to Lake Project!

Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you’re not when you are developing land. We have had our share of ups and downs with the villages but the last few weeks have been very rewarding. While digging the lake we have hit several underground springs that are producing a plentiful natural flow to the lake. At its deepest 30 feet you may be able to see from this picture the water coming out of the ground at a pretty good rate. Further to this we have had Ducks Unlimited out to help sanction these new wetlands which will help designate use environmentally. We are now replacing the organic material into the pond to help stimulate the natural vegetation that was their before. The end result will be a once ugly slough is now turned into a beautiful wetlands and lake area.

Club house Renovations taking place!

Our ongoing battle of improvements with the clubhouse are continuing, we have been working on the men’s locker room over the winter, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the changes. The outdoor decks have been causing us considerable grief over the last few years with leakage and age. We are working to remedy that by spring time, if the bids come in at a decent price. We are also currently reviewing a plan to add AC to certain rooms in the clubhouse, this is a daunting task in a log building but we may have a solution that would enhance the atmosphere on those hot nights we seem to have more of every year.

Golf Shop Happenings!

Wolf Creek is pleased to announce a new event for our general Membership, Premier Members and Corporate Members. On July 15, Wolf Creek will be holding our Member-Guest. This Member-Guest will be a very prestigious event in which all members will be invited to bring out a non-member and showcase the Wolf and all its facilities when the course is in its prime shape and the weather is generally warmer than the middle of October. We will still be holding our club windup on the last day of the season (hopefully on the New Nine) for the members and staff, it is simply a tradition! We are talking with several corporate sponsors and Chef Michael has promised to put on a couple meals that will be a culinary delight. The price will be $250 per two player team and the format will be net best ball. We will be passing on new information about the event in the months to come.

New for next year will be the The Wolf Creek Invitational. It will be our first Men’s Open. A date has yet to be set but we are working on it. Also for our Men’s Night will be changing things up, all players, playing 18 holes will play the South – West rotation in that order. The skins will be on the West nine for the 2007 season. Any players that only have time for nine will play the west only.
