  2011 Legend Asphalt Nationals

The 2011 Legend Asphalt Nationals are now complete and the 13 legend racers from Alberta who attended made us proud. And one racer in particular, # 17 Ira Laughy did what many thought was impossible, and that was win the Nationals. Ira has been chasing his dream of winning the Nationals for the last 4 or 5 years, and he has done well, and come close. But all that has changed now as # 17 Ira Laughy is now the 2011 Legend Masters Champion.

Those of us who new Ira, could tell that everybody needed to take the # 17 serious, as he was quick from the 1st day of practice, and you could see in his eyes he was focused and had 1 goal and that was to win. Friday night was the 1st step in achieving that goal, as Ira won the 2011 Masters Race of Champions. And Saturday night # 17 Ira Laughy did what no other Canadian racer has ever done and that is win the 2011 Legend Asphalt Nationals. On this day he is the Best Legend Racer in North America in the Masters Division. It would be wrong not to pay tribute and say Thank you, to the other 12 racers from Alberta and Saskatchewan that did all of us Proud.

Canadian's Invade the 2011 Asphalt Nationals in Las Vegas With the 2011 Asphalt Nationals just around the corner, the largest contingent of Legend racers ever, will venture south from Alberta and make their presence known. The list of racers from Alberta are:

 # 17 Ira Laughy - Calgary # 7 Jody Archer - Edmonton # 78 Brian Mario - Calgary # 81 Dex Hucal - Bashaw, Alta # 29 Aaron Friend - Calgary # 32 Adam Gilbert - Edmonton # H20 Darryl Buckingham - Calgary

Bits from the Pits 1.	# 5 Logan Downing

Rev'd Up Performance Racecars would like to announce that the Father Son team of Stuart and Logan Downing have rented the # 5 Legend racecar For all the races in Saskatchewan. After 6 years in karting, Logan has spent the last 2 year racing F2000 and F 3 open wheel cars. In 2010 Logan with won the F2000 Western Canadian Regional Formula Continental Series Championship. Logan is now pursuing a Business Degree at the University of Saskatchewan, and needed a local class to race in so the chose Legends. Based on there racing experience, we don't think it will take Logan and his father Stuart long to get up to speed in the # 5 Legend racecar. 2.	#32 #4 Dennis Kunstmann

Dennis got the itch to buy a legend racecar last summer and spent all day in the pits at last years Mac's " Frost 50 ". And over the winter Dennis purchased the # 32 Ford Sedan from Adam Gilbert, changed the car to # 4. Dennis is going to be a great addition to the growing number of racers in Saskatchewan. 3.	#88 Jason Fischer

  # 88 Jason Fischer from Edmonton Alberta sent us a Picture of the latest addition to the Crew. The new addition is named Kahne Fischer. The only question I have is we all know that Jason is a BIG fan of # 88 Dale Earnhart, but when think of Kahne don't you think of Casey Kahne ?? Congratulations to the Fischer family from everybody in Legends

Rev'd Up Performance Racecars / SUB DEALER Announcement

I am Proud to Announce that Rev'd Up Performance Racecars which is owned by the # 21 team of Ellery and Blake Erb, is a New Sub Dealer for Legend Cars of Alberta. Rev'd Up Performance Racecars will team up with Legend Cars of Alberta to supply all the needs for the growing number of racers in Saskatchewan. It is also the vision of both companies to eventually have 2 local Legend Series 1 in Alberta and 1 in Saskatchewan. And the Chase for the Mac's Cup would include X amount of races from both Series that would decide the overall Champion.

Pits from the Pits 1.	# 91 Danny Meier Danny Meier from Dunmore, Alberta is coming back. Danny sold his # 91 Legend racecar in 2006 and decided to go IMCA dirt racing, And the good news for everybody in Legends is Danny decided he missed Legends and the Legend racing family so much that he just took delivery of a new # 91 Legend racecar. WELCOME BACK DANNY 2.	# 86 Carter Horton

Trevor and son Carter Horton from Regina are the latest addition to the grow list of Karters that are moving to Legend racing. Carter was the 2008SKR Junior 2 Champion. Trevor and his son Carter purchased the # 86 from Darryl Hogenson and will race For the Rookie of the Year and Semi Pro Championship in 2011 3.	# 38 Kyle Stevens

  # 38 Kyle Stevens who is the team mate to # 17 Ira Laughy sent us this picture of his racecar as it sits waiting for winter to end. Kyle tells us he will be racing the full Schedule in 2011 and would like nothing better than to bring home the 2011 Pro Championship. By the looks of the picture I think Kyle needs to bring his racecar in out of the cold. 4.	# 52 Robert Bissell

Robert Bissell is 68 Years Old, and he wants to go racing one more time, and after driving a Legend racecar in a Legends Race School last year, he decided why not. So Robert went out and purchased the # 52 from Don Sanderson and looks to have some fun in 2011. Robert proves that Legends appeals to people of all ages.

						 Cars Were Flying at
			Medicine Hat Raceway in August

			These pictures captured some tense
moments for 3 racers involved in a spectacular accident August 29th
in Medicine Hat. And thanks to Lorraine McDonald who caught the
action on her camera. In the pictures are the #28 of Mathew Priest,
#22 Tyler Walls and #27 Lowell McLaren.

Mathew in the #28 did a complete roll over and landed on his wheels,
and how #22 Tyler Walls kept his from rolling over is anyone’s
			guess.

All three racers were OK and although all three race cars were damaged, both
#28 Mathew Priest and #27 Lowell McLaren had their race cars at EIR
this next weekend. Thanks to some hard work by Elery Erb on the #27
racecar and Legend Cars of Alberta on the #28 racecar.

Championship Battles as We Head Into
			Final Weekend As we head
into the final race at EIR on September 25th, you can see that some
of the class’s could almost declare a Champion, and the battle lies
with who will finish 2nd or 3rd.

The one to watch is the Masters Division in the EIR Northern Series
where past Champion #17 Ira Laughy is tied for the Lead with #89
Grant McDonald. What makes this race so interesting is that Grant,
going into the September 12th race at EIR held a 12 point lead. And
the only thing that has stopped Grant from maybe taking the
Championship from Ira is Grant’s string of BAD LUCK. The last 4
races has seen Grant being taken out of 4 races by accidents that
were not his fault, just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Most racers would have packed it in for the Year, but thanks to the
hard work by Rick Walls , and Grants never say quit attitude, we
will have a Championship Battle at EIR on September 25th.

			Kings Park Raceway - Regina

Legend Cars of Alberta racers made
their first ever trip to Kings Park Raceway in Regina at the end of
July and what a race day it was. All of the racers enjoyed the
challenging race track that has long straightaways and tight, high
banked corners. The racing was fast and clean and the drivers put on
a whale of a show for the near capacity grand stands.

Ira Laughy in the #17 Mac's Racing car
took home the overall and Masters win, with Adam Gilbert taking home
Pro and Dexter Hucal taking home Semi-Pro/Young Lion.

Dexter did an amazing job during an

			 Associate Sponsor Announcement
Legends is proud to announce that GDM
Racing Assemblies has become an Associate Sponsor of the Series.

For those who may not know who GDM Racing Assemblies is, they are

more and more racecars in our Series.

Heat kills horsepower and robs engine life and Greg has come up with
a cooling setup that helps solve both these issues. GDM will give

			 The Mac's Froster 50 Salute
			- 2010

The 2010 Mac’s "Froster 50" is in the
books and the 36 Legend race teams made it the Best Froster 50 yet.
The night started off with the Legend drivers doing their signature
4 wide salute to the fans. And the fans showed their approval with a
			standing ovation.

In the Young Lions Dash for Cash, first year racer #18 Jordyn Fancy
			was the winner.

In the B- Main sophomore racer #88 Jason Fischer won for the 1st
time in his young Legend racing career.

In the Mac's Froster 50 A-Main event Pro racer #29 Aaron Friend used
a late race restart to get past and hold off the three time and
defending Froster 50 Champion #17 Ira Laughy to win the 2010 Mac’s
			Froster 50 .

#17 Ira Laughy was 2nd overall and was
			first in the Masters Division.

And home town favourite #24 Brad
Blumer was 3rd overall and was 1st in the Semi Pro Division.

Message From Ron Thompson from Mac's

To all the Mac's Legends Series Drivers
			and Teams,

First off I was thrilled to have made the Froster 50, it has been
far too long. I had a blast and really enjoyed getting to meet the
new drivers and teams as well as old friends in this series. It's
awesome to see so many young racers as it shows the health of this
series and our partnership long term.

Then there was the race. The races within that race and watching
several drivers move through the field was fantastic.

I'm glad all had a safe race and everyone had a safe return trip
home. I look forward to working another Mac's Legends Race into my
schedule very soon. Until then continue to have a fun, safe season.

			Ron Thompson

				It is less
than two weeks away and counting until the first ever Legends

				The

			17th

July 17th see the Mike & Ikes Legend
Dirt Series make it first appearance of 2010 at Castrol Raceway in

Because of the late closure of Rocky Mountain Raceway in Aldersyde

Saying that, Legends is looking at a
large field of 15 or more Legend Dirt racers.

If you have not seen Legends on Dirt, then we strongly suggest that

Third year racer #66 Val Groebmair
wanted to go to "Legends Thunder" in Kalispell, Montana so he
recruited #29 Aaron Friend to come along. And the boys made the best
of it with Val winning Semi Pro and Aaron finishing 2nd in the Pro
			Division.

What made it even more special for Val was this was the second race
with the new paint scheme and also the second race for his new
			sponsor Varsity Chrysler.

Not sure if that smile on Val’s face is because of his first win in
or weather it’s the $1000.00 check for his first win.

Two other drivers also made the trip
down and showed well, Jody Archer in the #7 Pro car finished strong
			as did Jordyn Fancy.

			Legend Live On

Ever wonder what happens to old wrecked
Legend racecars. Well wonder no more as this racecar was the wrecked
Legend racecar body of #27 Jamie Beatson that caught on fire in 2005
at EIR, and the twisted chassis of #22 Rick Walls that barrel rolled
			in Calgary in 2004.

What Ron Lyseng did with the pieces is truly remarkable, and
sometime in 2010 or early 2011 the car will hit the road course
			track in Winnipeg.

These pictures are of the car still under construction, but Ron
promises some finished pictures in the not too distant future.

The car is now a 2 seater and the motor will be in the rear, and the
more you look at the pictures the more you realize the wow factor in
what he has done. Check out the rear fender 37 Chev fenders mounted
			backward and cut in half.

			Pit's from the
			Pit's

#5 Jason Wilkie debuted his new look Legend racecar at the Mac’s
"Froster 50" and the racecar runs as good as it looks.

Jason should take up painting as he again did all the paint and body
work himself. And since this picture was taken Jason has added his
			and the Series Sponsor Decals.

By the looks of this picture you can
tell that 2nd year racer #20 Bob "Sheriff" Rattai is happy. And why
shouldn’t he as in his first race of 2010 at EIR Sheriff Bob won his
first Heat Race and his first A-Main in the Masters Division.

To say Bob is a Happy Legend racers is an understatement.

Pictured here is #88 Jason Fischer who
in his second year won the B-Main at the 2010 Mac’s Froster 50.
Jason may have one of the smaller racing budgets, but what he lacks
in $$ he more than makes up with his enthusiasm and smile.

I have said it before and I will say it again Jason is what Legends
racing is all about. The win couldn’t have gone to a better racer.

He may not own a Legend racecar, but
Danny Hinds and the #50 Dent Clinic Legend racecar will be racing in
			2010.

Legends had a naked legend racecar, and Danny had a company The Dent
Clinic that wanted a presence on a Legend racecar. And not only that
but Danny wanted to race at the August 7th race in Saskatoon that
will be Sponsored by Lane Sorenson who owns the Dent Clinic
			franchise in Saskatoon.

2010 marks the 16th Year of Legends
racing in Western Canada and the Mac’s Legend Racing Series
continues to grow. Saturday May 15th kicks of the 2010 Mac’s Legend
			Racing Series season at
			Edmonton International Raceway in Wetaskiwin.

And along with the new race season, comes a new crop of Rookies
wanting to try their hand at Legend racing. And along with the
Rookies are a cast of seasoned veterans that say its there turn to
win the 2010 Chase for the Mac’s Cup Championship or the 2010 EIR
			Northern Points Championship.

Last year a record 35 Legend drivers ventured North to EIR for round
1 of the the Chase for the Mac’s Cup and the EIR Northern Series and
with the weatherman promising good weather, we may just beat that
			car count.

All of the drivers and crew that make up the teams in the Mac’s
Legend Racing Series invite you to come on out and watch the great
racing at EIR in Wetaskiwin and see for yourself why the Mac’s
Legend Racing Series is the Premier Series in Western Canada.

			2010 Schedule - Minus Dirt

Shown below is the 2010 Mac’s Legend
Racing Series Schedule. Legends is pleased to announce that for the
first time ever Legend Racecars will race in Regina at Kings Park
Speedway. Everybody at Kings Park Speedway are excited to showcase
the Mac’s Legend Racing Series at their track and I know the Legend
Racers are excited to go there.

On another note Legends will again race
on the Dirt in 2010 and the schedule should be finalized in the next
couple weeks and it will be in the next Newsletter.

The 2010 Chase for the Mac’s Cup
			will consist of 9 races:

			4 at EIR Wetaskiwin / May 15 & 29 Sept
			11 & 25
			2 at Saskatoon including the 2010 Mac’s “ Froster 50”
			2 at Medicine Hat Raceway
1 at Kings Park Raceway in Regina

The 2010 EIR Northern Series will be 5 races. (The July 17th race at

Million Dollar race draws nearer we thought we would show you this
picture of what 220 Legend racecars looks like.
And to think the expected car count
			is about 600 Legend racecars
All I can say is WOW, who wouldn’t
			want to be there!

			 The Racers Say
			"Thanks"
			 #96 Kerry Nevatte, on
behalf of all the Legend racers who race in the Mac’s Legend Racing
Series presented Ron Thompson from Mac’s Convenience Stores a "Thank
You" plaque, thanking Mac’s for 15 Year and counting of Sponsorship
			of the Series.

To the best of our knowledge this is the longest running Motor Sport
Sponsorship of a racing series of any kind in Canada.

Every Legend racer is proud to display the Mac’s Corporate Logo on
their windshield and front quarter panel. How could you not when you
have a company like Mac’s Convenience Stores that supports a racing
			series the way Mac’s does.

			Driver Profile - Jason Caplette

Two years ago Del Caplette bought a
Legend racecar to race, but ended up putting his son Jason behind
the wheel. Jason wanted to run asphalt and Del wanted to run dirt,
so Jason bought his own car for 2010.

Jason will debut the Army green & black 1937 Chev Sedan pictured
here with Sponsorship from Platoon FX out of Calgary who’s motto is
			"a Physical Fitness Experience".

Jason will also have sponsorship help
from Leduc Sheet Metal & Gas Fitting.

The Graphic’s will be done by Pam and her staff at Auto Graphics.
This car is guaranteed to be a eye catcher with its Army Green color
			and Graphics scheme.

Pictured is Mike Kipp from Edmonton Alberta and his new #22K 1934
Chev Coupe Legend racecar. Mike and the Kipp Racing team have moved
from the Baby Grand Series to Legends for 2010.

They have 2 goals for 2010, take a run
at the Pro Championship and go to the million dollar race in
			Charlotte.

#86 Darryl Hogenson from Red Deer
Alberta shows us the new look on the Spectrum Paint & Collision
			Sponsored Legend racecar.

Darryl has new paint, and a new outlook which includes a lot more
Legend racing in 2010. If Darryl races as good as the car looks
			everybody better watch out.

Pictured is John Lakeman from Sylvan
Lake, Alberta who bought Danny Hinds #50 Dent Clinic car in 2009.
John is another racer who promises to race more in 2010. John didn’t
want to use another racers # and yet he like the #50 so John says
lets keep it simple and so the car will soon be running the #05.

Picture is #88 Jason Fischer from
Edmonton Alberta. As you can tell by the number on his car, I guess
you can tell who is favorite NASCAR driver is.

Jason is in his 2nd year of racing
Legends, has his family as a crew and is an example of why Legends
racing is so popular. Jason often say’s he doesn’t have a large
racing budget, but he makes up for it in having fun.

			2010 Silly Season Update:
Monroe Savage buys the #27 1937 Chev
Sedan from Jamie Beatson and changes the racecar to # 44. Then
Monroe sells the #44 to Jason Caplette who drove the #74 1937 Chev
Sedan owned by his Dad Del. So Del is now back to driving the #74.
Word is Del will do Dirt and Jason will do Asphalt.

Then Mathew Mort sells the #84 1940
Ford Coupe to Rod Priest who changes the number to #28 and puts his
son Mathew in the driver seat. Kevin Kemna who raced the #18 1937
Chev Sedan sold the racecar to Jordyn Fancy who will run the same #.
Darryl Hogenson who owner the #33 & #86 Legend racecars sold the #
33 to Bill Busby who changed it to the #9 and will again share
driving duties with his son Mathew.

Kevin Barton sold the #51 1937 Chev
Sedan to Rod Filgas who will run the same # . Lowell McLaren from
Saskatoon who decided all this buying and selling of used racecars
was confusing so he ordered a new 1934 Ford Sedan and will run the
#27. Wayne Kipp from Edmonton who with his son had ran Baby Grands
has decided to join our series and he also bought a new 1934 Chev
			Coupe Legend racecar.

Not to be out done #20 Bob Rattai who runs the #20 because he likes
Tony Steward realized Tony was now racing a red racecar instead of
an orange one, so Bob has bought a new Tony Steward red 1937 Chev
Sedan Legend racecar. Then #22 Rick walls changes his1934 Ford Sedan
to #23 and Tyler will drive the car, then Rick buys a new 1934 Ford
Sedan Chassis and Body and will take the running gear from Tyler’s
1937 Chev Coupe and build a new #22 1934 Ford Sedan.

Legend cars of Alberta will do a rental program for Chelsey Wilson
who will be the second women to race in our series, she will race
the #9 but seeing as we already have a #9 it may become the #19 or
			the 9A, stay tuned.

And last but not least Kyle Stevens has
bought the #38 that he rented from Ira Laughy last year, and he will
			keep the same #.
			Whew! Lot's Goin On!

In 2010 Mike Czaja the Driver of the #
83 will be turning laps for a the 8th annual Bryan Mudryk Golf
			Classic.

Mikes goal is to raise $25,000.00 for the Alberta Cancer Foundation
			through Brian’s Golf Tournament.

The Bryan Mudryk Golf Tournament is entering its 8th yearand has
raised over $400,000.00 for the Cross Cancer Institute.

What the #83 team has come up with is a Pledge for(Min $20.00) and
then a bonus pledge of $2.00 a Lap for every lap completed by Mike
			at the 2010 Mac’s "Froster 50".

If you do the math, every $20.00 pledge if Mike goes the 84 Laps
will earn $168.00 extra per pledge. Mikes goal is to raise
			$25,000.00.

Mike Czaja has set his sights on winning the 2010 Mac’s "Froster 50"
on June 19th in Saskatoon. However his ultimate prize would be to
achieve his goal in raising $25,000.00 that would be donated to the
